VTG Rushton Octopus Plush!

I was recently smitten by a plush rubber face octopus by Rushton. I figured I would probably never get a chance to own one. Low and behold, I was able to adopt one! Yay! This rare, vintage and unique 50’S RUSHTON rubber head Water Baby OCTOPUS plush was originally sold at MarineLand as a part of their Water Babies collection. It has an adorable hand painted rubber face with the most delightful expression, retro light yellow, plush body and pink tentacle underside. He is dressed as a sailor with his white Sailor's hat. But, sadly missing his black tie.
Upon inspection of the plush, he was well loved and a bit dingy. He definitely needed a bath. So, I removed his white felt collar. I placed him in the wash and after, let him line dry. After he was dried off. I tried my best to move his stuffing around, but I may need to replace his stuffing. Next, I worked on his collar and took the original collar and cut out a new one, from a similar white felt. It was sewn on, and last, found a black satin ribbon to replaced his missing tie. What do you think?

Just a bit of History on Rushtons... "Rushton's dolls were made of the best materials. Rayon, plush and cotton stuffed with top grade products. Rushton made hand painted, rubber dolls and rubber faced animals from the 1950's until the 1960's. It was one of Rushton's most popular toy lines and consisted of many different toy stuffed Bunnies, monkeys, Rushton Santa, cats, ducks and other animals and figures with rubber faces."

Next, I also received this Mint in Package craft rubber face puppy. I have plans for him, so more later.

Have a great weekend fellow collectors!

Cute Trinket Box!!

I recently, bought via Comickitsch on IG. The cutest little trinket box and it arrived safely to me! Blaire was letting go many of her rare finds, and I just happened upon her sale and couldn't resist adopting this cutie! He is a white and blue dotted pony trinket box. I recall she bought him from Japan, and he's a Rune Naito design. Just to adorable too pass up. He arrived safely to me along with some cute vintage kitsch cards, a bear button, Ado M. art, etc.! Aww, thank you my lovely sis!!

Then, I finally received another two vintage angels from Ebay, that I wanted to upcycle. The first two I got are here in this post. The next two girls were flocked in red and yellow. Yellow one is similar to the first yellow girl. But, this one had water damage to her flocked dress. Oh well, I had to figure out a way to change that or at least hide the water marks. Then, I decided to get felt in blue and glue the felt onto her yellow dress. Next, added some white with pink dotted ruffles and a pompom trim. Finally, a sheer pink bow. I kept her white angel hair. I think it matches well with her dress. Don't you?!

In the case of the red angel, I definitely wanted to keep her red flocking. So, I decided to just change out her hair to red and did them in braids. Next, I added vintage lace ruffles, I kept from a ceramic kitty that I upcycled, to the neckline. Finally, a black silk ribbon to the front of her dress. She looked mod and definitely the style for that time frame, I believe! Then, after looking at all of them together, I decided to change the blue haired angel to a different hair color. Though, I loved the blue hair, I didn't like the fact that it was just poofy and looked a bit unruly to me. Sadly, I didn't have the 3 inch pile fur, in blue. Darn it. Reluctantly, I went with the olive green, that I had a lot of. I believe she turned out nicely still. Yippee!! I even added a blue star clip too!

A look at each of the girls alone. They are quite unique and lovely to have displayed on a shelf or even during Christmas still. I have each of their wings, sadly the waterlogged angel's wings were broken and previous owner stuck them together with foam sticker tape. Ugh. I will see if I can remove it and fix the wing.

Finally, I also received this lovely retro Fawn plaque made by MerryBee in Japan. I couldn't resist getting one. Now, I have a bunny and this fawn. Now, if only I had room to put them both up on my wall. LOL

Have an awesome day!

Dandee and Projects...

I recently received a vintage Dandee imports plastic music box with a cute boy and girl from Etsy. The music box works, but it is a bit slow. The song it plays is called, "Roll on The Barrel". I was able to remove all the tape and residue and reglue it. Kind of creepy cute, I think its unique and as I look at it, I think I may need to add something to it... Made in Hong Kong, it rotates as the music plays. The children remind me of the 1950s or 60s. All made of plastic. The girl's outfit and big bow is just adorable to me!

I began working on this wood birdhouse I bought via IG a few weeks back. I began with spray painting it. But it has been raining on and off, then just when it was sunny, the weather got bad again. LOL So, trying to get it done in a timely manner was not possible. Then, I decided to just use acrylic paint and scrapbook paper to decorate it.

I added some pastel pennants using origami paper and string. It turned out nicely and I will add it to background shots of mine soon. It was fun, but felt like forever to get it done. Ugh.

I have a few other projects to work on still! Hopefully I'll share more again soon! Have a wonderful weekend y'all!!

Speaking of Online Finds...

Here's what I got in the mail today!!
"Odette" pearl version by InchLab and Evangelione. There was a preorder for her back in June and she was shipped to me last week. She arrived to me today and I'm just thrilled! You see, I've always wanted a doll by Evangelione on Etsy. When she lists her handmade dolls, they sell in seconds, and trust me I've tried several times to get one... with no luck. So, this collab with InchLab is the next best thing for me. I love her face. She has a magnetic flower that you can put on or take off. Now, to find my mini crown... Sadly her head doesn't twist. That means I can take her head off and place it on a doll body. Darn! Her box has a window and I love the sweet poem at the back. I got mine from My Plastic Heart!

I also received two items from Japan. This book titled, "Glico Toy Picture Book Omake Omocha Zukan Morinaga Takuro Collection Rare Japan." Released back in 2013, by the President of Glico and talks about his collection. Amazing photos of Glico candy's toy line from 1930s to present day. In Japanese with some English subtitles, about 104 pages. It also showcases the Foam animals I told you about! I couldn't help but get this cute Junichi N. coin purse. I fell in love with the art on it. There are 6 styles, I believe. This one is my favorite. You can hang on your key chain or side of your purse. Great for holding tiny things or coins too!

Next, I adopted these cuties from Comickitsch via IG, which I may or may not flip! These bear/cats are just too cute! I love their unique faces. I'm so tempted to fur them... No, MUST RESIST!! LOL They are quite rare and unique for sure. No stamp on them. But, I believe they are made in Japan. On Monday, I made it a point to swing by the Goody Store to get a few things...
And found, two retro style cute animal baggies, two birthday cards, which is what I meant to get when I got there, tiny cute animal soy sauce containers in the Bento isle, and last, this cute pink tin with ribbon, and rose with silver cones perhaps?

I took the pink tin and added some green tissue paper inside, and took some photos of my tiny friends in it. I may use it to carry my cute flocked friends around. Or perhaps other tiny cute things...
