True Beauty The Movie

 

    I wanted to share with you a movie I actually watched on the plane on the way to Japan that was listed on my United Airlines flight recently. I often try to watch movies that are recently released from Japan during my 3 hour flight from Guam to Japan. Only because they often show some really good ones that I would never have known about unless I searched it up. 

This one happened to catch my eye from the trailer I saw as we were getting ready to take off from Guam. It was so good, that I ended up watching the same movie on the way back as well from our Tokyo Disneyland trip and than again on my Sister Vacation trip into Haneda, Japan!! I later found out it was based on a Korean Webtoon of the same name, "True Beauty" below by Yaongyi

 

On the plane there was True Beauty The Movie: Part 1 version of the Japanese take on the Webtoon. Since getting back from Japan. I decided to read up on the original Korean Webtoon in English of course. It took me 5 days to finish. Sadly, the site I was reading the books from had a few glitches here and there. But ultimately, I finished the story. It was somewhat different than the Japanese movie version. Still, I must admit I enjoyed them both equally!

Basically, the story is about a high school girl who was being bullied at her old school. So she just happened upon a video on how to use makeup to change your look. She learned how to change her outer appearance completely, transferred to another high school and so many things happen to her along the way, like becoming popular, falling in love, helping others with her makeup skills, etc. The two young men you see on the movie poster and Webtoon cover, both end up falling for her. But only one knows her true look or "Bare face"! If you like Kdrama or Jdrama, than you need to read the book or watch the movie. There was also a live action TV series that was released on the Korean version I believe. That one I haven't seen yet.

 After reading the Webtoon, I had Sara help me find the Japan Movie Part II and sure enough it is currently on HBO Max!! I was so excited and watched right away!!

After watching part two, I'll definitely watch it again soon since I've only seen it once!! Haha! I have to say the Japan version I enjoyed more so, because it was funny and you can get teary eyed too! I don't want to give any spoilers about what the movie's ending is, because it's better if you watch it for yourself. The movie has subtitles, so yes, you will have to read. I loved the songs featured too, they are on my music playlist! I hope you'll enjoy it too?! I know I did!
