New Vintage Finds!

I've been trying to find mostly affordable vintage goodies online as of late. Here's what I found through etsy...

 This interesting cutie caught my eye while searching for rubber squeaks. It reminds me of those vintage ceramic Arnart flat head figurines. I've seen this poodle before and a cat, I believe. His squeaker doesn't work, I will try to find a replacement for it...

 I will also do some retouches to his eyes and eyelashes. He a lot larger than I thought he'd be. I will add him to the shop soon. Along with him, I found this cutie dolly and a ceramic Elephant nursery planter.

 Cute vintage Forsum dolly, her body is very similar to my Herman Pecker doll here. She has her original Santa's helper dress and red boots.

 Her original tag by Forsum, made in Japan. I will add her to my shop as well.

The planter arrived like this, sadly. The etsy seller was nice enough to immediately give me a refund and I decided to glue him together...

 You can still see the cracked areas, but he was just too cute not to try. He was quite huge too!

 I also found this lovely fabric from the Goody Store, with rabbits, hedgehogs, squirrels and deer on it!

 To end the day, we also received a lovely Pop-up card from dear friends in Japan, that stayed in our guest house! So very kind and sweet. Thank you Nakane Family!

Very Festive and goes well on our new TV entertainment center my husband made!

Keeping Busy and One of My Idols!

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season and getting ready for all the festive activities that come with it?! I've been trying to keep busy with finishing some projects I got ideas for, the past week or so... Here's what I got done. Whew.

I took this cutie's head off her original bod and onto the stationary sitting bod you see... I changed out her red ribbons and put bubblegum pink ball hair ties to match the gingham she has on top.

 I repainted the collar of the dress, boots and bow tie on the dress. Now she sits in my display cabinet.
 She was fun to do!

 

I found a few rubber heads from etsy, that I decided to try to create something with. Then, I had an idea?! I remembered, that I had a Mcdonald's Buildabear Happy Meal toy from sometime ago and took it out to use. Previously, I tried needle felting a body to use, but it didn't work out the way I had originally wanted... So, since the Buldabear bodies are tiny plush teddy bears anyhow, why not? Basically, I removed the face of the Buildabear and replaced it with the rubber face you see.

 I'm trying to recreate smaller Rushton type cuties using those rubber faces... I hope to make more soon! Rushton's are so much more expensive nowadays. So, these are just right for me and the price too!

 The bear is about 4 inches tall. I hope to make a lamb, duck, and baby chick soon!

Then, I took some festive holiday photos, while taking out some Christmas decor to decorate my dresser with...

 Just a few of my favorite vintage Christmas ornaments and Kamar Santa! He is my fave of all!

I also wanted to share with you... I recently took out my Sweet Memorial EX Wedding Jenny from 2007 to sit atop my inflatable stool by my bed. I dressed her in one of my favorite mod dresses made for Nakajima Seisakusho Charmed Scarlet dolls, along with a pair of Ideal Velvet doll, pink maryjane shoes.

 She looks so mod and reminds me more of the 1960s style in Japan back then. Ahhh, gorgeous. I took a pic to share via instagram and...

I got a like from one of my favorite doll collector icons, Billyboy*, Mr. Mdvanii himself!! Oh my goodness, if you are a collector from the early 90s or so, like myself, I learned so much from Billyboy's articles, and his wealth of knowledge for the craft and love of doll collecting. He is one of the inspirations for writing my book on High Fashion Lina dolls!!

Yes, I took a screenshot of his comments... He's one of my idols, of course I would! I just had to share with you his words and his comments on my doll. So, very excited.

His son, Alec Jiri and I have become good friends, when he purchased, some of my beloved Lina dolls in my collection. AJ, is amazing and I truly enjoy our conversations on dolls and our collections along with what he has learned from his amazing Dad.

Another, Next Best thing!

I recently received another set of plastic flocked deer, I found through etsy. This time I figured I would try making them slightly different...

 You can read my first attempt here. I decided this time I would just keep them in their original color after removing the flocking. I painted in the white dots, eyes, nose, mouth and antlers for the stag.

 This time I made sure to keep the doe's eyes closed instead of open...

 Red lips, cheeks and a polka dot bow, to complete her.

 I think she turned out nicely. Then, that just encouraged me to repaint the white doe's eyes! LOL

 Now, I'm very happy with the results. I will sell one set, and keep one. So, be looking out for them in my shop soon!

 I love both though, it will be hard to decide...

 Then, I also repainted the monkey with the blue hat. Now, he looks a lot more presentable. I've already listed him in my shop.

 Sadly, his tummy was a bit harder to do.

 He's still a sweetie, and I hope someone will adopt him.

I received this cutie in the mail today! A vintage sweet ceramic dog bank. I like his floral design and his big eyes. He still has his original stopper. Who could resist this cutie. He will be a part of my collection.

Last, I wanted to share that I found a book with the very same vintage baby doll in it.  How cool is that? I added a ribbon to her and now she sits on my dresser...

Happy Mail Day and Another Trade with My Best Toy Friend!

Today, I received some cuties that I just couldn't resist getting!

 This cute little bunny coin bank. I found through an online shop in Japan. I have seen a larger one wearing a jumper, but this one reading a book was just too adorable. It's quite small and I'm surprised it could hold coins?! LOL

 Usagi-chan reading, for Happiness Mutual Bank, is what the listing said. She will be added to my soft vinyl collection.

 Then, I also found these cuties up for auction through ebay! Whaaaat?! Yup, they were up for auction together in a lot. Kobe Bank Mitsui Sumitomo Monkey Coin Banks.

 Sadly, the blue hat monkey has a lot of issues. I may repaint him? The red hat is in good condition. I've been wanting to get one for some time, and generally, they go fast or for high prices even on Yahoo Japan auctions. So, it was very nice to find these two for a lot less on the bay! Yay.

 I will add one to my collection and sell one in my shop...

I recently, traded with my Best Toy Friend again! This time for my yellow bear with the blue bow and my cute girl with the blue bow on her head. I know, what you are thinking, whaaat?! Trust me, it was hard, but, She gave me choices I could not refuse... I definitely love the items I got and there is a bit more, but I may or may not show later...

 Very rare plush pink bunny baby bag. I say Bag, because she has a zipper at the back to put treasures into for safe keeping. I was very thrilled my Toy Bestie offered this cutie. Like I said, I couldn't refuse. I think, in trade for the yellow plush bear, is very good and we are both happy.

 She is so sweet and adorable!

These two ceramic deer were a gift! Thank you dear Toy Bestie! I only own the gold deer couple, so getting these was awesome! They have nice big eyes!

The other item I won't share at this time... another amazing trade my dear Bestie Toy Friend! Thank you sweetie!
