Hopes for 2024...

It's already the 2nd day into 2024 and I hope you all had a lovely New Year celebration! My family just stayed home and watched a movie, then called it a night early. For this year we are here in one of our rentals in the main village of our town. It wasn't as noisy as I thought it would be. Yay! Usually down at our house we are far enough away from the village/town that we don't hear too much noise. If any at all. Haha! It has been 6 months since living in our village rental. Things have pretty much been back to normal for us as a family since Mowar. Sara's in school, Sam's at work and I'm continuing to find vintage for my shop and sell them. I am proud of myself for selling off more from my collection and I hope to continue to do so this year.

I love collecting, but I think I am more ready to let others enjoy the things I have treasured. So if you've shopped with me thank you and I hope to bring more vintage goodness to you! Soon I'll be another year older too. Life sure goes by fast! Haha!

Here's some cute vintage goodies I found and didn't showcase yet. Above, some 1988 Bandai Silky Fashion dolls that are about 4 inches tall and adorable with anime eyes! They are listed in my shop sold separately. Below, this lovely antique plush bunny mask face dolly. She has the most amazing big eyes! In lovely condition too!
I was able to snag this adorable Morinaga posedolly tin. A part of my collection, that is slowly growing. I will use these to hold my vintage anime stationary, pencil cases, etc. Love the graphics on these types of tins! I also found a lovely vintage record book with selected music for teen girls. I hope to show more on this record soon!

Next, I found these adorable open and closed eye pose doll heads that I made into lovely satin petal flowers. Both are already listed in my shop! They have arms that pose too!! It was fun to try to create something with the heads and I've always wanted to make anthropomorphic flowers!

Below I won this lot of plushies which included a Rushton!! Two of the plushies were not bad and are already listed in my shop. Two of them I have to restore. The Rushton white and pink kitty below with before and after photos I couldn't wait to finish restoring. It was fun to see if I could get her all cleaned up and ready to be loved! First, a Knickerbocker hugger puppy, sadly missing her partner. But she is still in lovely condition. Then, a gingerbread boy plush. Also in good condition. Both are already listed.

Here's the kitty after restoring her. She mostly had really dirty fur. I had to wash her three times just to get most of the dirt off. She still had lovely long fur and needed brushing too. Her rubber face was all scratched up and mostly on her cheeks... ugh

After using Mr. Clean eraser, her cheeks mostly cleaned up, with the exception of her left side. But, I was definitely pleased with how she turned out. She still had her original Rushton tag too. Afterwards, I added the pink satin ribbon and some hot pink 'forget me not' flowers I had on hand. I did touch up her eyelashes, nose and added a bit of blush.

She definitely turned out adorable and ready to be loved again. I have her listed in my shop. I know I may regret selling her, but I know someone will love her! Original stuffing just fluffed up and put back in. I just need to get one more plush from the lot cleaned up. I hope to get him done soon!

Here's to another year of hopes ahead! Happy thrifting!!

Love the Giver More Than The Gift...

15 more days til' Christmas! Here's what I've found recently...

This adorable rare Macoto Journal or "Free Diary" is in used condition, but just simply lovely. I was very surprised to find it. I love Macoto's artwork and his ladies are always surrounded by flowers. This book will be treasured for sure! One of my favorite finds last month or so. Next, while do my usual searches, I found a MaWaPhil doll with her original tag. This is Little Miss Muffet by Mary Rushton. She is in beautiful condition and her tag is just too cute. One of Mary's earlier works for sure. She is already listed in my shop!

Next, I found this lovely musical record player and coin bank. I added the blue bear decal by Meyercord on the front. Just adorable! Now, to decide if I will keep or sell... Haha! I also won this lot of 2 baby doll fashions via Ebay. One fits my tiny Rushton Baby and I am hoping the other will fit my Sekiguchi baby!

Just having fun with tiny Rushton baby in her walker. She is truly special to me and just had to share... Than, I was able to snag this Rushton Box from Japan. Just look at all the adorable art work on it. This one is definitely an earlier Rushton box because it mostly features plush animals, and only one rubber face. Yup, you guessed it "Chubby Tubby" so probably about 1950s or so. Just look at each of the plushies represented...

Also, I did a few restorations and upcycled this adorable Rushton kitty. I gave her blue eye shadow and eyelashes. She sold in my shop last month and I'm so happy she has a forever home. She is quite unique and still had her original Rushton tag. Then, I restored this lovely curly haired 'Happy' bear for a collector in Japan. Her 2nd time utilizing my service. Thank you dear Satoko! He turned out lovely as well and I'm so please she was happy with him too!

This adorable Sun Rubber, yup you heard me right, Sun Rubber tin baby doll crib! It is a doll bed and if you flip it, a doll rocking bed. I couldn't resist getting it. Mostly for the color and graphics on it. Just too freakin' cute for sure! I believe it fits any of the Sun Rubber squeak dolls perhaps. I have not found any information on it. It sits underneath my pink Christmas tree this year! Eek, so cute!

I also received a care package from one of my dearest friends! Thank you Alvina! I love the Johanna Parker creamer and sugar bowl she sent me. We do get some J. Parker items, but only through Ross on Guam. So they can be hard to find if you don't catch them when Ross stocks up their shelves. LOL So many cute things she sent, like a tin filled with yummy snacks, and lip balm and lotion. I just love everything. I truly appreciate you dear!

Lastly, this adorable artist made rubber face, "Scrappy" bear purse by the talented, Bluu.squeaks on Instagram! I bought one of her purses to go with my blue dress. And just look it is perfect!! The quality and cuteness is just amazing. I love the pompoms most, so colorful too! Can't wait to wear my dress and get out there for photos!!

Bluu has other styles available. Be sure to check her out on Instagram or tiktok! Definitely worth getting and affordable as well!

Hope you've gotten your Christmas shopping started?

Life Is...

...What you make of it." And to that note, it is so true. If you choose to be bitter, then life, seems bitter. If you choose to be angry, well then, Life seems more angry. Just live and make the most of what you have, then life will be content. That is what we can all hope for... Right!

Enough of the boring stuff, here's what I've been up to the past week!

First, this absolutely amazing antique piece I found!! All the way from France, arrived to me safely. It is quite heavy and made of bronze, I believe. From the late 1800s to early 1900s, these gilded jewelry boxes have lovely silk tufted interiors with tiny buttons, and lovely accents to them. This one has a heart-shape. I first saw it while doing my usual searches, and was stunned by the pale pink silk. These amazing pieces are very much sought after, even in France. I will try my best not to begin a new collection, as they can run from $200 to $1000 even in the secondary markets. Darn! But, this will look so lovely atop my dresser. Shabby Chic ain't got nothing on this one!! Sadly, no key, but that is okay, and the back hinge will need fixing.

I'm amazed that the inside is still in this condition!! Whoa! A quick break, with this fun photo of my Chubby Cherub outside with Lulu playing with this adorable ring toss game! The game is already listed in my Etsy shop! Quite fun too, from what I can tell with Lulu and friend!! Haha. I found this lovely vtg dolly with bear brooch in gold tone. A great addition to my dolly pins. Next, I am in awe of this lovely Holiday Fair Ballerina Pose doll, I adopted from my soul sister, Blaire of ComicKitsch on IG. This swan princess even has a name, Monique!! Thank you Blaire and for the lovely gifts too, you spoil me!!

Another break, Happy with Chubby Cherub outside. I just love these two cuties!! They are always up to no good though!! LOL I found this Proctor & Gamble blue canister, with lovely mod apple design. There are two others in this series, a red apple, and yellow apple design. I am sure there are others. This canister will hold some of my toy jewelry which are overflowing at the moment. Ha! A Vtg Rushton plush Mouse, I rescued, gave a spa and touched up his cheeks. He is already listed in my shop! All original too! Then, these colorful mod resin flowers from IG, a fellow friend and collector in Florida makes these and I was able to snag a few bouquets. Now, her flowers are so popular, it's even harder to get any. LOL

This specialty kit for making an Easter Bunny basket, I may decide to add into my shop... It's hard because I am so tempted to make it into a plush instead! Haha! After seeing this Lovely Cragstan poodle from a fellow collector's stream. I had to get one. Creepy cute is what this poodle looks like, but when you wind her up, she plays a Lullaby and you can see her yawn and go to sleep! Just too cute for words! I picked up this lovely, red furry Frederick's of Hollywood style bedroom slipper ornament. It reminds me of Marilyn Monroe and similar actresses, in their nighties wearing these types of slippers and looking sexy...

This lovely Ice Follies 1957, bear pin. I recall a time when Ice Follies, was something many wanted to go see. This adorable bear pin, reminds me of that time. I have seen other animals, I believe there was a penguin, and an elephant. I wonder what other animals there were? Hmm. Some more millinery flowers for my Rushton collection and spa customers. I've been on the hunt for white daises with pink or hot pink centers to replace the one on Daisy cow... some day I will find the correct ones! The ring toss toy, by Koide. Is NOS in my shop!! I also got a lot of ceramics from Japan, most have been listed in my shop already. A few have sold. There are some rare ones in there still, so be sure to stop by!!

Then, I found this lovely My Toy bunny, she needed a good wash, and face touch up. Same face mold as my bear, now to decide which one to keep?!! I love them both so much! I also was able to find this lovely minty vtg Rushton sleeping baby pajama bag with rattle. She is so cute and in lovely condition, I didn't have to give her a spa. Yay!

I adopted this lovely vtg Rushton yellow sad bear from Japan. She was filthy... She smelled of gasoline, and I had to wash her twice. I repainted her face and added a purple satin ribbon to her. I may or may not keep her... A lot of 3 Sankyo music boxes, I bought to replace a music box in an old plush I am currently working on. Sadly, these play for only a few seconds, maybe not good for a plushie. I will have to see... The one song, "Memory", from "Cats" the Broadway musical, brings back a lot of memories for me. When I was in Jr High for Music Class, for try-outs to get into the Honor Choir, we had to sing this very song, and alone. I did it and was told by my Music teacher, I did a splendid job! I made it into Honor Choir of course, and it was one of my best school years too! I loved Honor Choir!

Last, for today, is this cute Woolikin plush baby duckie, I've already listed him in my shop. She just has the most surprised look on her face! I added the bib and daisy to her head. Sadly her original felt flower, was all gone, so the daisy was a good replacement.

Summer is here for most of the school kids on Guam. I hope you all have a relaxing week!

Thank you for taking a look at my blog! ~ ggsdolls
