Being a Mother...

... Means that your heart is no longer yours; it wonders wherever your children do." ~ from being a Mother website.

In today's world, there are so many people with their own opinions and how they believe in their hearts of what is best for others. I find it actually quite comical when I get messages about how I sell my Rushtons. I've had a person complain that I sell them at such crazy expensive prices that no one can afford them (Not necessarily true, ahh but this person doesn't know any better). That is actually a moronic thing to say, since the prices for many of these Rushtons have always been so high for years. Most if not all of us collectors have been paying a lot for them for some time now like more then 7 or 8 years.

As a reseller of vintage, most of us keep that price to try to get paid for what we have invested in them and just want to make back that money. It is truly understandable for anyone who knows how precious and rare these plushies are becoming with the exception of the common ones. One may wonder why or what is causing such a problem for those who complain about it. I believe mostly it is because they are young collectors, and because of jealousy. Maybe one might instead invest in saving or making more money to get what they want if they want it. Not everyone can get that 'steal of a deal' for every Rushton they find. They complain because this seller is just out to make cash or just trying to make the rest of us not afford the item. That is not true for those of us who collect them. But no matter what I say or anyone else says, we will always be wrong in their minds.

I've also notice an uptick on the zero bidders of Ebay again! For awhile, they disappeared. I think these are same people who complain about Rushton prices. They figure, "Oh well if I can't get that item, no one will!" They too believe that 'Shill Bidding' will help keep all of us from getting what we want, it might... But now guess what you ignoramuses, you just made it harder for yourselves to get that Rushton too! Jealousy, mindless bidding, and constant complaining, does no one any good! There is also messaging the seller of the item to not sell and offering a much higher price to steal that item from another buyer, who has already paid! I have never seen so much cut-throat shenanigins for vintage items like I do with Rushtons!! It is totally unhinged what has happened!

Most often I resell my plushies, not because I am trying to get rich, but mostly because I get messages from collectors who have either been searching for them, it was an ISO or they simply just want to add them to their collection. These are the ones I mostly entertain, because it is knowing that these precious plushies, will be loved and continue to be loved as Mary Rushton would have wanted them to be. Maybe I need to update my "All is Fair in Collecting" blog post here. Haha! Goodness gracious this all needs to be said and out there!!

Truly sad because some really amazing collectors and influencers of Rushtons just find that sharing them is no longer fun anymore. So they have left the group or stopped sharing their Rushtons... All because of a select few who are just plain jealous... In time you will grow up, one can be hopeful.

So I hope these people are truly happy with themselves!

Oh and one more thing, to that beautiful person who sent me some lovely messages on ebay...

I sold the Rushtons you were sure I'd never sell my dear! ^_~  Sorry, not sorry!

Thanks for stopping byeee! ~ ggsdolls

  1. Hi there!, I've been following your account on instagram. What I like is that I learn new things there- like what doll is an Angel Puppe and etc. Showa era vintage wisdom so I am thankful for that.

Anyways, regarding this topic. I see this too on doll collecting spheres and recently in Secondhand Thrifting/Depop(and reselling platform)centric places.

The behavior is very dismissive for the effort of actually rummaging the thfirt bins. Sweat and the danger of heatstroke at thriftshops (Well that is the case for thrift shoppers in the Philippines). The cleaning afterward.

The unshown costs of driving to and fro to ship/receive items. Time is gold and the time researching about the the particular item. Negotiating with the supplier. The effort to outrun other sellers bidding for the items.

I assume in your case, is contacting to your suppliers directly in Japanese? If you learned Japanese, the effort you had before in learning. We should count that right?

These people will haphazardly say- Their heart's are anti-capitalist. They shout them but how about fair labor?. It's annoying that they hide and some even steal from resellers- I personally would understand some people shoplifitng groceries and necessities.

But Collecting rare items are not a need. It is a luxury. Sometimes, I think people don't want to effort much.

Admittedly, I am on the lazy side behavior wise. So I don't exactly hatefully lament I am not able to buy more. I am lucky though, that Philippines imports old things/thrown items from Japan, Korea, and USA.

Therefore, I was able to buy First Generation Licca chans for about less than a 100 USD. Some people even sell Angel Puppes here for less than 50 USD. But that is not the case for the other countries,
It is crazy to demand those prices from sellers who get their items direct from Japan. Luxury items are not charity that my point.

Sorry for the long post. I just let out the same annoyance with these other so called collectors...

    1. Hello dear Pandadodod, thank you so much for your thoughts on my post. I truly appreciate you following me on IG. Thank you and for reading my posts here.

I agree with you as a reseller and as a collector. Mostly young collectors and some seasoned ones just don't get what we go through, and assume that we are just trying to get rich! But, that is not the case. You are very lucky to be able to find Licca dolls for a lot less there in the PI. That is definitely a dream for many who collect First Gen. Licca's. But like you said, one should not assume how one finds things, and as most of us know, how much a doll is worth, if you want it, then we may pay that higher price for it. It's a luxury.

You and I may talk at length about this, but sadly, most will still believe what they want too. That's okay, let's just continue to sell and collect what we love! Those true to collecting will still shop with us and understand the hard work that goes into it.

      Many hugs dear, Gigi
