Want to Make a Furry Figurine?

Here's a quick way you can create those really cute vintage furry figurines you see in some collectors photos. I was asked a few times, on how I made the furry cutie here in this post. So, naturally, I'd rather share how I did it via blog post!

You saw the cute little deer shakers I bought through etsy in this post here... Here's what I had planned for them...

You can find this type of faux fur mohair fabric at craft stores, but if you want the nice soft quality long mohair, you can find them at specialty stores. Mine are from an etsy shop, link is in the post at the top. I prefer long hair mohair. I got mine in hot pink and olive green.
Choose, the color you want for the figurine. Make sure the figurine is clean and prepped for gluing, before anything. After choosing the desired fur to use on the figurine.

Place the fabric upside down, with the fur on the underside, and the fabric facing you. I cute along the back side of the fabric fur, that way you can avoid cutting the long hairs, by accident. Take the piece you cut and gently pull the excess hairs off, because eventually they will fall off, and can get stuck in the glue, making a mess.

That way its clean and ready to glue onto the figurine, when you are ready. I chose to make small cuts of fur long ways, because I am trying to, make it so that the leftover fabric is still presentable to use for photo shoots.
I cut the fabric in small sections for the shakers, which are small anyways. Then, I cut to size the piece I will use, and start with the neck line of the figurine. I cute a long swatch, and place around the neck line to measure and fit. Once, that is done, you can glue that piece down. Since they are small the one piece will cover them completely and you won't need to cut and glue more. But, for larger figurines you will have to cut more.

Next, start with one side of the face, left or right and then, do the opposite side. Work your way towards the back of the head. Now, be sure to make the faux hair, side ways as you place it on the front side of the face, that way its falls naturally, like a hairline.

Once you've finished covering the figurine completely, with exception of the face. Use a Barbie brush or your fingers to style the hair. If everything looks nice and you are happy with the results...

Finally, you can make a bow with ribbons or if you have the ready made versions like I do from the daiso store. Dab a little bit of glue on the backside of the bow, and place the bow on the neckline of the fur just underneath the mouth of the figurine. Ta DA! You have yourself a little furry cutie!

They turned out adorable. I wanted to repaint their eyes, but I think leaving it was better. They are still cute. Now, they look like a cat or dog instead of deer. LOL
I choose them, because their ears and face paint were similar to the large furry figurines I've seen.
While you are working on projects like these, its good to have some Japanese snacks to savor. This one was from Tokyo Mart on Guam. My first time to try. They are delish! Dark chocolate and coconut goodness! "Hi Chocolat Beaute".

Finds For Today!

Here's what came in today! I managed to trade, and find some goodies that arrived...

This is a set of two vintage vinyl toy dolls mint in package that I traded with Poshtottydesignz. They arrived safely to me from the UK. I was so thrilled too. As of late, I've been trying to find metal pin cushion chairs. Sadly, most are faded. But, the two that Katie had were minty mint! I was happy when she agreed to a trade. Yippee!
She even gave me some of her lovely designed pose doll cards! So sweet, thanks dear!

I opened one of the dolls. I wanted to get a closer look. I may be tempted to open the other. LOL
They are kitschy cute vintage goodness. Made in Japan. The chairs can't be used as pin cushions, but that's okay. I love the dolls sitting on them.
Like Cake toppers too. Both will be added to my collection.

I finally found this cute baby puppy squeak toy. I've seen him in yellow, but this color is just as nice. Vintage squeak toy, made by Iwai. This lovely puppy has huge eyes. I found him on etsy. I cleaned him up and will decide if I'm keeping or not...
Still needs some cleaning. His squeaker works! Yay.

I also found online, a Licca chan accessory set, it includes a teal hat, shoes, and earrings. I was surprised no one snatched it up. I will use it on one of my dolls soon. More later, perhaps.
I also found this vintage paper doll set, that includes scissors, and stickers. I've seen this before, well, at least the paper doll and pop up room. It's quite cute too. I will open the packaging soon and take more shots later for you to see. An addition to my collection. I believe the artist is Junichi Nakamura? 1950s.

I found this set of vintage deer shakers, via etsy. I have plans for them and will show you later, after I get started. LOL
Still have their stoppers at the bottom, with Japan markings. I may repaint their eyes?

Still adorable... More on them later!

Taken earlier this morning. The water was so calm and soothing. The natural beauty of God's creations, reminds me to be humble...

An Interesting Lot of Goods!

Today, I received an interesting lot of goodies via Yahoo Japan. At first, I wasn't going to bid on the Lot. But, then noticed that the included an item, that would make another item, I already have in the shop, complete?! Yippee!

Here's what came in today...
This Lot included, two music boxes, a ceramic bunny bank, and a tan cute dolly.
First, this lovely Ado Mizumori art music box. In lovely condition, but sadly, the music box doesn't play. Maybe someone will buy it and make it work again. If I had time too, I would try to fix it... To be listed in my shop.

This lovely boy and girl picking flowers music box is in great condition, and works too! Sadly, just missing the ballerina to twirl in it. You can find these for sale online, if you look carefully. Both music boxes play, a Japanese song, I am not sure the names? The one that does play, is beautiful.

Using my dancing ballerina to show, that this music box works!

This lovely Sanrio tan girl with a bubble cut hairstyle, wearing a green dress, reminds me of Holly Hobby perhaps. Definitely of Ado Mizumori's works. She will be added to my shop as well.

My fave of the Lot, a matching vintage bunny boy coin bank with apron. If you recall I found the girl version here in this post.  I was so happy to find him. Now, they are reunited and hopefully someone will adopt them?

The listing for the girl will be updated to include the boy bunny!

Then, I also got this cute Rune Naito Pixie in olive green through Yahoo Japan auctions. I will add a bow to her head. Yes, making her a girl. I am having a hard time deciding to let her go... LOL
My first ceramic pixie too, if I decide to keep her! Ugh, the temptation...

My most anticipated, this lovely Clarolyte Alan Jay squeak toy cat. I've always wanted one. Now, I do. He was from ebay, and the auction ended in a nice price too!
Now, I have the cat and poodle in my collection!
