When Damaged Goods Arrive...

I was so proud of myself for finding this cute vintage silver ceramic Bunny money bank through an online shop, in Japan. I've seen these cute bunny banks sold through Milbee's Online shop here. I was very close to buying one, but someone else had bought the item before I could. So, my next best choice was to buy the other one I found... Fast forward to today.

Sadly, when my friend sent the item to me, the seller she ordered it from for me, didn't pack the ceramic carefully. Yes, yet another disappointment of an item arriving damaged. I am definitely learning that collecting vintage ceramics is often a hit or miss, especially, if the item gets damaged during transit. I'm finding that USPS.com is not necessarily at fault, but those airlines that handle the cargo after it leaves the hands of the mail companies, who do know how important items are to their customers!! Ugh. Probably why, I need to stick to buying plastic or vinyl items... Note to self. Ha.

Anywho, I was able to salvage this damaged item. Yay me!

 She was in pieces. Mostly, the damage was from the neck up. I wasn't sure if I could put her back together, at first?! I started with the neck area and worked my way up. gluing small sections at a time.

I worked on her for 3 days or so... When I completed her, sadly, the last section (The top head part with ears) I had to glue on was a bit off from where some sections were already glued to. Darn. There was only one very tiny piece that was missing in the neck area, which probably caused it to be off. So, I managed to replace it with putty.

 She is a silver version of the same bunny. I figured when I got her I could either flock her or paint her... Her facepaint was worn off from age, with just a bit of her original eyes still there.

 The back side you can see is a bit off.

 I painted her first, using Milbee's bunny pics, I was able to recreate her eyes, minus the eyelashes and eyebrows. I repainted her dress, cheeks and ears. Then, I added a red bow. I decided not to do flocking. Though that would look good on her as well.

 You can still see where the opening for the money is a bit off, and the cracks from the damage.

Also, I worked on this cutie too! I reflocked him in areas where he had permanent marker ink on him. Also in areas that was missing flocking.

 Finished product! Good as new!

Some Mail Today!!

Monday was a holiday, "Columbus Day" here, so sadly, the Post was closed. I had to wait til' Today to pick up my 4 boxes, or so I thought... instead there were 5 boxes! All small packet stuff, but still a happy mail day for me!

 A small packet from Yahoo Japan. Two items in it, a retro vintage squeaky toy, and a retro girls toy accessory set! Both will be added to my collection.

 I fell in love with the cute retro kitty brooch... So, I decided to bid on it. When it arrived, it has so many cute vintage girly trinkets! Back side of the case.

 You can see all the cute trinkets, a pair of rose earrings, two key chains, a pair of beaded hair ties, two types of hair clips, a watch, fish brooch, necklace with girl pendant, cat brooch, pearl necklace, colorful beaded bracelet, five rings, and a set of stickers!

 I may just keep it to keep other cute vintage girly accessories in?!

Also, this cute vintage retro squeak toy bunny! I've been wanting one since seeing them on Milbee's Toy shop via instagram!! She had a complete unopened set of three cuties for sale long ago, but of course someone snatched them up fast!

The beary below that I won, and in need to a good washing too! Here she is before cleaning...

 Below, the 'made in Japan' markings. She is a cute open eyed yellow 'Bunny'. There is a closed eyed pink 'Bear', and a open eyed blue 'Squirrel'.

Then, I also received a new acrylic miniature vase below!

From ebay, this one I love more than the orange one! It so mod looking with its swirls and coloring! This will go into Tadie's house!

I finally received this cheap set of Mary Quant Daisy table & chairs thru ebay! I won it back in early September, but it took almost a month and a half to get to me from the UK?! I generally understand, that it will take some time to get to Guam, but over 30days?! The seller must have sent it on a boat, because it was on parcel post instead of priority or even first class and it was so light it would've gotten to me sooner?! I know I paid the shipping price of priority mail... oh well-_-;

The set is missing the plates, utensils, napkins etc. and there are two chairs that are broken from the base. Thus, the reason I got it so cheap! I wanted it as a substitute to Tadie's dining table that is missing and maybe I could use the chairs as replacements? I will see?

 I will need to break out Tadie's furniture to see if the chairs can match this table or not? I will say this much, the tulip chairs are the same type of tulips chairs in the vintage Modella's set here, only that the base is longer than the regular 1/12 size tulip chairs by Modella... I will show a comparison photo soon!

Last, are these two amazing minty vintage 'made in Japan' Christmas Flower Felt Ornaments from Ebay! There was somewhat of a bidding war, but these cuties are so worth it!

 Look familiar?! Yup, just like my dear Holly here! They are the same style and cuteness! I didn't know they made them as flowers, until now! Nice!

 They will be added to my felt ornament collection! See them in my cabinet below!

They're Here! Vintage Squeak Toy Animal Set!!

I have been trying to complete this vintage squeak toy set for the past year!! Finally, I was able to snag it on Milbee's Toy shop! Whew!

 These three squeak toy cuties are made in Japan. I've seen a few listed thru ebay, but not as a set. I've found the bunny in yellow twice, the bear in the center twice, and I've only seen the squirrel once. Sadly, I lost trying to get any of them. These were sold as baby squeak toys for a nursery. But they are just so darn cute you want them no matter what you collect?!

 Their heads are movable, and when you squeak they "Squeak!"

I have two of the yellow bunnies below. The one on the left I was able to find via Yahoo Japan. But, she was expensive to win, even for just her-_-; I will put the one on the left up for adoption through my shop via etsy... so be looking out for her!

 I did manage to get the pink bear last year thru ebay, on the right. But her face paint was just about gone. So I retouched it. She is much smaller than the other. She too will be available in my shop!

Below, the rare blue squirrel! He is the hardest to try to find. I've seen one other flickr friend that own one. I love their eyes and cute smile. I love the one above with her closed eyes too.

They will be a great addition to my collection!

Mail, Projects and Other Things...

It's been pretty busy the past two days! I didn't have a chance to post a goody that came in the other day! Then, a project that I finally finished working on! Lastly, my husband's 3rd shoulder surgery!!

 This vintage lovely pink acrylic Miyako Maki pencil case is too die for! I love the graphics on it. This one is quite different from others I've found. Seems cheaply made as far as the case itself, only because I am used to thicker plastic, vinyl, with a magnetic closure... The acrylic is soft in feel and inside the ruler, magnifier, divider is very flimsy and may break easily, if not careful. From age maybe?

 I love the case more for the artwork on it, of a Lovely retro girl! Still dreamy, so I shouldn't complain! Ha!

 This lovely gal, I haven't shared with you at all?! Until now! LOL... I was able to adopt her from the lovely Shoko of Milbee Toys website some time ago! She is quite expensive for my taste, but a tan mermaid, who can resist!! Hello not me! She came in a nude color, so I've been trying to get brave enough to paint her and I finally did!!

 I used light blue spray paint, acrylic pink paint, and then sealed her with Mr. Super Clear flat spray. I added a cute white flower hair clip and now she is just so cute! I could've left her nude in color, but I wanted her to be the mermaid she is meant to be!!

Finally, it has been in the cards as of late. Since my husband last two shoulder surgeries, it was inevitable, we had gotten a third opinion, and this doctor suggested another surgery... This time, we did this here on good ole' Guam soil! Not the Philippines, and not Stateside...

Basically, the doc went in, cleaned up some more scar tissue in hopes that it will help his muscle move more freely. We can only hope, right?! It was a 3 to 4 hour procedure, so I stayed close by and patiently waited for the call that he was done!

 While waiting, I listened to music caught up on emails and Tadie kept me company...

 It felt like we waited forever...

 So, when I left the condo to get lunch, I also stopped by my favorite 100yen store and picked up this below, Yum! Tohato Almond Caramel Corn puffs!! Never had them before?!

It tastes somewhat bitter because of the almond flavoring, I guess? Still it was different!
My husband's surgery was done by 3pm. We left for home and he is resting, we can only hope this works out a little better?!

Some Cuties Arrive!

Adorable vintage cuties arrived to me the past two days...

First up, this cute lunch box case from UK ebay seller...

 I've been searching for more of these types of cute bento boxes or cases. There are a few I still would like to get, but to at least find one is great. I will use it to hold tiny trinkets and things instead...

 Then, a dear friend via IG showed me that another member was selling her Cortendorf figurine. Small world, she is actually someone I already knew from flickr! Awesome. Great trans and I receive her today! Her box was crushed on one side, as I opened it, I was worried she was damaged. But, as I pulled away the bubble wrap, she was fine. Whew! Thank you dear NiteMary for packing her safely!

 She is very similar to my smaller island gal with straight long hair. My growing Cortendorf collection!

I also received an amazing trade from the wonderful talented and sweet Shoko of Milbeetoy.com! For one of my rare cute bunny babies here! Also, some of my other posts talking about her shop here.

Shoko, literally blew me away!! She is kind, very accommodating, and so giving! She offered me several packages to see what I might be interested in to trade my little bunny for. I did have two... and one is really all I need. So, we traded, and I am just so in love with everything that she has given me! Oh my goodness... I'm still in shock with all these cuties!

 The trade included a rare Ninohira Baby, a vintage tan retro sitting girl, and she had even given two wonderful extras, actually three! As gifts! Oh my!

The sweetest Ninohira squeak baby! She will be a lovely addition to my squeak toy collection! I hear she is very popular even in Japan. I agree, I tried to bid on one the other day and was outbidded. Such a sweet face, and big eyes. Dreamy...

 A vintage tan dolly, I will not share with you at this time... This lovely ceramic bunny below will be a big brother to my little celluloid baby one! The cute tiger with sleeping eyes, also not shown, just adorable...

 She even surprised me with this cutie below. Her face reminds me of Chi-chan or maybe the Twinkle Star dolls, similar to Liddle Kiddles! So Cool!

Shoko had sent her box out the same day I sent hers... and it came in about 4 days later. That was lightening fast, even for Japan. Sadly, my box to her went first to Honolulu, Hawaii, then it will go to Japan. I am hoping she gets it by Saturday?! Okay, I'm praying she does. LOL
