My Doll on The Museum at FIT!!

     There was a call for all doll collectors if interested in contributing photos of the dolls they have in their collection. This was by The Museum at FIT and would be featured in the "Doll Dressing" section of the exhibit. The exhibit would explore the history of fashion dolls and their influence. If selected this would be showcased with others online from September 16, 2026 through January 3, 2027. So, I definitely wanted to be sure I added one of mine! The campaign page was here and I saw the call on Instagram first back in April!

Precursor, believe it or not, when I was a Senior in high school, one of my many dreams was to become a "Fashion Designer"! I was wanting to do this so badly that I drew for one of the ads in a Seventeen magazine that was for The Art Institute College, back in 1989. I got a letter and then a call from the New York Campus! They told me I could go to their San Francisco campus if I couldn't get to New York. I was so very excited that it might be possible to attend... Sadly, we just couldn't afford for me to fly to California let alone pay for dormitory and tuition to attend. Back then, I didn't realize that FAFSA or Pellgrants were a thing. Ugh! So my dreams were dashed... But instead I did attend other Universities and had other experiences, that made me who I am today! Though I may not be a Fashion Designer, I still love fashion and what I do and who I've become. 

Back to this opportunity, I am so thrilled that my lovely Adorn doll is featured here! Please be sure to check it out! Enjoy other collector's dolls and those that inspire many people to create and do what they do! Mini Vacay to Texas!!

     Sara and I went on a mini vacation to visit my son and his family in Texas! We got there without any issues from our flight and the first night we actually stayed up and had a lovely home cooked meal by Monica and Tevin. Yum! We rested the next day and just relaxed. On the third day in Texas we did headed out to Daiso, Five and Below, and than Miniso at Ingram Mall. 

Some unique items at Daiso for sure!! Like these laundry carriers? Not sure I thought they were for catching butterflies, but Sara says they are for laundry. LOL Still cute!! Then next photo is my haul from the store! I just had to get these!!

The cute mini masks I had to get. I haven't seen these styles. The teal bear purse was just too adorable for words, and I found a different to me bath bomb with tiny pearl style princess miniatures. Great for your dolls! I ended up getting two tiaras. Darn. I wanted the tea cup or perfume bottle, oh well. Miniso had so much cute stuff too, but I was good and didn't buy anything, whew! It was very hard to resist, trust me!

By that Saturday, my son took us to Dave & Busters for lunch! We had a blast at Dave & Busters. I just got a simple meal and the kids had burgers and pasta. We even got the all day pass to play in the arcade. The kids had so much fun! While myself and baby strolled around watching them play. It was our first time going to one and it did not disappoint. Great memories made for sure!

On the 23rd of July we went to the San Antonio Aquarium and enjoyed seeing the various fish, and wild life there. Sara really enjoyed it and even took home a souvenir... It was a small aquarium and even had feed for the animals and petting areas. Lots of summer camp kids were there enjoying the place as well. It was a relaxing stroll and I think Ivyn enjoyed it for sure. Did you notice?! 

In my photo below of the aquarium's sign, right in front there were Flame Trees just like on Guam!! I was truly surprised to see! Ha! We also went to North Star Mall and saw a lot of great things at Hot Topic, and other shops. We left there with a Build A Bear plush for my grandson! Tev & Monica had fun putting it together for their son! Great memories!

There were some really big Koi there! I was surprised how large they were! Haha! Afterwards we went to a Japanese BBQ Hotpot restaurant and enjoyed lunch there. It was really good and Tevin and Monica did the cooking. I am being spoiled!! Haha! Yummy too!

I got a Miso soup base and mixed in a lot of veggies, fish cake, bean sprouts and ramen. It was delicious! We also had some meat and chicken that they barbequed! Definitely a great place to relax and enjoy with the family with good food! The staff were so helpful and always checking on us! I would definitely go back there again!
 

On the weekends while Monica went to work, Sara and I babysat and just enjoyed the San Antonio atmosphere. It was quite humid, with some rain and thunder. But overall we enjoyed our little getaway. Tev & Monica really spoiled us while there. Every night we either watched a horror or anime movie, played board games or Karaoked!! Haha! It was a blast for sure! On the last few days of our trip. They took us too The Japanese Tea garden, which was a beautiful place for sure and lots of locals and tourists there as well.

I was surprised that there were so many places with Flame trees as well, just like the ones we have on Guam!! For lunch we at at Mr. Juicy! I thought it was a small place, but my goodness it was very popular for sure! The food reminded me of Mr. Kraut's on Guam. Definitely worth the try! We also went to Ironside Antique Mall. I saw a lot of really interesting things and enjoyed seeing vintage again! But left the place not finding a good buy and that was okay. It was just nice to check it out though.

 

But two weeks went super fast Darn! It was time to head back to Guam. We truly appreciated Tev & Monica's hospitality and making memories with my grandson. He turned 8 months while I was there and learned to clap his hands and use his outside voice!!  Our trip back to Guam was less straight through and more slower with time to relax and take a breather between flights, Whew! Below, I had Sara use my phone to take a photo of the mountains leaving Texas. Then, while in Denver, we enjoyed a cup of S'mores Frappe from Star Bucks! Yum, Haha! Definitely a memorable summer for sure!

Creating Things Are Fun!

    So here's some fun things I created while we were in recovery mode on Guam after Typhoon Bavi...

I got more badge making kits from Daiso and made this adorable bunny in blue and pink for my purse! I need to get more. All I had to do was print the cute Meyercord bunnies I had in my collection and made them in realistic looking plushies and added the art to a matte post card paper and used my printer to print them and cut to size. Now these cute badges will look adorable on a purse of mine!

Next, I took this acrylic badge holder key chain also from Daiso and same process I printed out the bunnies and added some adorable pearl pink ribbon cab and tiny pink daisies! Now, this is ready to be display on a purse or key chain.

 

The back side of the badge has origami paper of cherry blossoms, how cute!! Below, I've had this adorable purple heart key chain for some time I just had to get ready to make cute! So this time I took some sticker dolls I had and the origami paper of cherry blossoms and made a background. Added the cute dolly sticker at the center, then some of the pearl blue and pink bows I got from Daiso along with the pastel glass shards and lastly some pretty paper pink cherry blossoms I had. TaDa!! So cute! I may change out the ball chain for a cuter one! This one is definitely special to me!

 

 I also received a small box from Japan of some goodies. The one item below is for my collection. A vintage "Ribon" Little Girl Manga special gift badge that came when you got your subscription back in 1957. An adorable gold carriage with pink and yellow gem stones. For a little princess perhaps or one that day dreams she is...

I can almost imagine as a little girl or teen getting this badge brooch and saving it. Too cute! The other items in the box were for a customer. 

Sara and I plan on leaving for a little adventure!! More soon!

Recovery Mode...

 Guam barely missed all the typhoon force winds from Bavi. Early Monday morning, I saw the strong rain and winds batter our village. Typhoon Bavi moved a lot faster than Typhoon Sinlaku at 10mph. So by 8am, I heard the radio DJ say that was the closest approach to Rota. Which meant for us on Guam less damaging winds would still be felt. Winds would come and go and so did the rain. At times I thought it would calm down or stop. But no here comes another bout! Lots of thunder as well was heard.

By Monday afternoon, the only thing we had left running was water. Thank goodness. No power since the night before and sadly cell service died soon after.

 We did the same routine after Sinlaku hit us 2 months ago. We tried to stay cool during the days and use our generator during the night. We would go to an area close by to use cell service. By Wednesday cell service was restored but would be on and off every 24 hours. By Friday, we finally had power! Whew!! It has been trying but patience is all we had to have to make it through the wait for some kind of relief.

We kept busy with trying to be creative. Sara did her coloring book. Whilst I tried to organize things here and there. So many things still need to be done for things to feel normal again... Someday soon it will be.

A Storm is Afoot!!

 We have a storm knocking on our door this weekend! Darn!! July is here and we are getting hit by our 2nd serious typhoon for the year!! Typhoon Bavi below slowing making its way toward the Marianas. 

 So to keep busy here's some items and things I've been doing the past few days...

I got this lovely Barbie style pendant from Japan and I believe it was a free pendant if you got the Shoujo Manga Ribon for girls. The pendant is around the 1950s in pink and gold and a silhouette of a lovely girl. Similar to the silhouettes by Junichi Nakahara. I paired it with a peach satin bow and gem. Than realized the lovely colorful pearl necklace I got would be amazing with it!!

I also decided to sew a lovely puppy journal for my son's partner, Monica. I hope she likes it. It just too cute for words. Always fun working on things for loved ones for sure!!

 Next, I decided to find and take out from storage my vintage Jewel Star and Toei Little Mermaid books to be scanned. I finished scanning both books so you just need to email me or contact me on here to purchase a copy! 

Then, I also took down my previous display above my shelf and decided to display my children's suitcase collection. These are just a small feature of my faves. I love seeing them, and brings back so many childhood memories too!!

This lovely baby card I found and it came with an adorable pink plastic comb. Just too adorable for sure!! NFS. Sara and I also finished another Rokr puzzle set. This one was started by a family friend and he gave the set to us for us to complete. It's a globe that lights up!! It was fun to complete too and took us about 2 days. It comes with a USB plug and all the things needed to help it light up! 

I also won and received this lovely vintage 50s Rattle Head plush baby. Needs cleaning but he is still just too cute!! I have him displayed with Alice at the moment.

Yesterday we made our way to Daiso and I saw some new Bath bombs for kids above and my purchased items below. I hope to make some cute things while we patiently wait for the typhoon Bavi to pass... More on that later on!!
