Blue Rushton Bear Part Deux!

 Part One here...

Did I make him a new body? Nope! I decided not too after seeing him all cleaned up. I just couldn't bear to let go of his old fur. So below is how he turned out and even his mechanical arm works too!!

I stuffed him with his original stuffing, than, repainted his face and added a satin bow. His hanky cleaned up nicely still shredded but recognizable and his tag as well. I simply love him and his worn missing fur still gives him character and showcases the love he had from his previous owner.

It's raining Rushtons!!

I recently used Buy it Now, to get this adorable rare version of Queenie Quack by Rushton Star Creations. She arrived with fur very matted down and discolored. But I was hoping for the best when I began working on restoring her. After her spa day, she was 110% better. Her stuffing was in beautiful condition and I just refluffed it and made sure it was evenly distributed through out her body. Especially the neck area which was very wobbly. I cleaned up her rubber face and only needed to touch up her beak and cheeks.

I needed to figure out how I was going to create her bonnet. Luckily, I had some extra millinery available in my stash!! TA-DA! It turned out beautifully. I may change out the ribbon I used. I want there to be a breakup of the colors and not too much pink satin used.

She is definitely was a surprise to find. A welcome one too. You see, Queenie is one of my ISOs. This version or the original is what I've always wanted. She will stay with me for a time, and I just know where to display her!!

Next, I won this lot of three Rushton, yup you read that right, Rushton Star Creations, Easter bunnies!! Each of them just needed a bit of work on their necks. Sadly, after time, the stuffing always migrates to the body. So their necks were all wobbly. Each came with their original satin bows and flowers. I listed each one in my Etsy shop and the pink sold already!! Love their frosted colors!!

There is even this adorable Chime Toy Gund bunny. In amazing condition and with its original tag as well. He is also in my shop! Just too cute and waiting to be adopted. I also could not resist these two ornament dolls made in Japan. Just look at their huge eyes, made like posedolls, these two will be great for Christmas or Valentine's day decor!

Adorable Douglas Cuddle lamb above. He is actually a bean bag plush. I love the sleepy eyelashes and blue eye shadow. I'm always a sucker for!! Haha! I was able to find and get this adorable miniature plush lamb by Riryuru. One of my favorite Japanese doll toy miniature artist. Now, I have two of her dolly miniatures!

Another favorite find, is this adorable red puppy child foot stool. I was sure it was going to take a month to get to me, but it didn't. And I thought I'd have to go into the Post to get it, but I was wrong there too. It fit inside the post locker and I just had to get it. Yay!! It fits perfectly into my retro decorated bedroom too!!

One of the things I enjoy most, having the treasures I collect around me. Yaaassss!!

Another Chubby Tubby in Need of TLC!!

    I bidded and won this poor 50s Rushton Chubby Tubby Bear recently! I knew the moment I saw him who and what he was!! Buddy Bearkins!! He is an earlier version of the famous Chubby Tubby. Mary Rushton must have started off with making him before Wight revamped and advertised the Chubby Tubbies. No one really knows for sure, but hopefully one day we will find the answer...

    Poor Buddy was missing his little brother. But you could tell from his dirty left arm that the child who owned him before must have loved the little bear a lot and now Buddy's arm is just a dirty mess. He was definitely a plush in need of a lot of help. So as soon as he arrived, I began to remove his stuffing and sew at least one hole I found. I washed him 3 times in hopes of getting rid of the dark left arm. Ad below from a Sears Christmas Catalog.

     Sadly, it didn't even turn a gold color. So I did not want to cause any further damage to the fur on that arm and left it alone. After he dried, I restuffed him with his original cotton batting. I refluffed it and put it back in. The stuffing was in great condition and just needed refluffing. I did remove some of the parts that was on the left arm as it was dingy and brown.

    After restuffing him. I worked on his face and cleaned off the grime that was on the rubber. Next, I touched up his face paint. Which didn't need too much, except for his nose and eyes. He was slowly becoming just as he should have, and I was very happy with the results. Instead of a pink satin straps for his jumper, I gave him blue satin straps and vintage pink buttons. His bow tie is a lighter pastel pink and I tried to find him a vintage blue bear, similar to what I have on mine.

    But sadly, I could not find one. I did find a pink one, but it was a bit too large to play his little brother. So this blue bear will have to do. I am particularly happy with how his rubber face turned out as you can see from the before and after photos above. He's such a handsome guy and definitely ready to be loved again!

    I decided not to sew the mini bear onto Buddy's arm. That way the new owner can decide to keep him there or not. Especially if a better version is found. Haha!

    Another look at his backside and right side of his body. He is very cute and now I'm finding it hard to decide whether to let him go or not. Haha! No I must resist keeping him...

    But ultimately, I would rather he be loved, besides I have my minty one. Teehee! Just one of the Mary Rushton's plushies that is a favorite in my collection. I am sure at some point I will let go my minty one. But I doubt it. Haha!

I truly enjoy seeing these poor babies given a new life and ready to be loved again, while not try to overly restore them. A good thing for sure!

Hopes for 2024...

     It's already the 2nd day into 2024 and I hope you all had a lovely New Year celebration! My family just stayed home and watched a movie, then called it a night early. For this year we are here in one of our rentals in the main village of our town. It wasn't as noisy as I thought it would be. Yay! Usually down at our house we are far enough away from the village/town that we don't hear too much noise. If any at all. Haha! It has been 6 months since living in our village rental. Things have pretty much been back to normal for us as a family since Mowar. Sara's in school, Sam's at work and I'm continuing to find vintage for my shop and sell them. I am proud of myself for selling off more from my collection and I hope to continue to do so this year. 

    I love collecting, but I think I am more ready to let others enjoy the things I have treasured. So if you've shopped with me thank you and I hope to bring more vintage goodness to you! Soon I'll be another year older too. Life sure goes by fast! Haha!

Here's some cute vintage goodies I found and didn't showcase yet. Above, some 1988 Bandai Silky Fashion dolls that are about 4 inches tall and adorable with anime eyes! They are listed in my shop sold separately. Below, this lovely antique plush bunny mask face dolly. She has the most amazing big eyes! In lovely condition too!

I was able to snag this adorable Morinaga posedolly tin. A part of my collection, that is slowly growing. I will use these to hold my vintage anime stationary, pencil cases, etc. Love the graphics on these types of tins! I also found a lovely vintage record book with selected music for teen girls. I hope to show more on this record soon!

Next, I found these adorable open and closed eye pose doll heads that I made into lovely satin petal flowers. Both are already listed in my shop! They have arms that pose too!! It was fun to try to create something with the heads and I've always wanted to make anthropomorphic flowers!

Below I won this lot of plushies which included a Rushton!! Two of the plushies were not bad and are already listed in my shop. Two of them I have to restore. The Rushton white and pink kitty below with before and after photos I couldn't wait to finish restoring. It was fun to see if I could get her all cleaned up and ready to be loved! First, a Knickerbocker hugger puppy, sadly missing her partner. But she is still in lovely condition. Then, a gingerbread boy plush. Also in good condition. Both are already listed.

Here's the kitty after restoring her. She mostly had really dirty fur. I had to wash her three times just to get most of the dirt off. She still had lovely long fur and needed brushing too. Her rubber face was all scratched up and mostly on her cheeks... ugh

After using Mr. Clean eraser, her cheeks mostly cleaned up, with the exception of her left side. But, I was definitely pleased with how she turned out. She still had her original Rushton tag too. Afterwards, I added the pink satin ribbon and some hot pink 'forget me not' flowers I had on hand. I did touch up her eyelashes, nose and added a bit of blush.

She definitely turned out adorable and ready to be loved again. I have her listed in my shop. I know I may regret selling her, but I know someone will love her! Original stuffing just fluffed up and put back in. I just need to get one more plush from the lot cleaned up. I hope to get him done soon!

Restorations and More!

 Here are my recent finds and restorations...

I found some replacement ballerina dolls for music boxes. I made sure to get at least 2 and the seller was so kind enough to give me a gift! One with a pink polka dot skirt. Just awesome and will be great for any jewelry box that may be missing a ballerina. I finally found myself a 3 headed rattle in white and blue. I sold my red and white one last month. So this cutie will stay with me for now.

I also made this adorable bonnet for a Rushton Ballerina Pink Toes that I sold last month and made one for my own Bunny as well. It was fun to try to figure out how to create it too. Now, the bunny has a new home with a sweet birthday girl.

Next, I found this adorable Fluffy by Rushton. The seller said she was owned by her grandma, how sweet! She needed a bit of help and was missing her hat. I was able to wash and restore her and source a place to find a replacement hat too! I was very happy with the end result. Here she is with her book. Now, she just needs her twin brother.

I was able to acquire these adorable craft blocks with lettering and made myself some shop logo blocks. I love the way they turned out too. Definitely an easier way to include your watermark in pics too! Haha! This adorable Krueger head rattle doll on a plush clown body. I also made this one myself repurposing a vintage rattle head. Happy with the way she turned out too!

I'm not sure if I told you guys, but I found this adorable Giggles by Ideal in Japan. She still works and has her original Ideal tag in English and Japanese. I've always wanted one, but just never really got around to locating one until now. This adorable huge Easter Rushton plush bunny. He needed a lot of washing and I just returned his stuffing inside him. Then replaced the ribbons and added a hat to him.

Now, he is ready for Easter. I will list him in my shop soon! I also found this adorable Hallmark Birthday invitation cards and envelopes set, mint in package too. I am trying to convince myself to open them. Haha!

This awesome book of vintage Japan kitsch toys. It's a newly released book of Retro Toy collections. Thank you to Tomoko for letting me know the title! Definitely a good source for vintage Japan kitsch. Below, an adorable Chick Rooster vinyl plush. He needed a bit of paint and also some sewing. Just too cute!

My latest rattle doll find. I love the pastel colors. He will live with me for a bit. Look at this adorable Teach a Tot clock below. There is just something about anthropomorphic toys. Their faces are just the sweetest not to want them! Great additions to my kitsch nursery collection too!

Lastly, for today... This amazing vintage Yukiko Tani Sunstar compact with memo and coin holder. When you open it, there's a mirror and the memo booklet inside. 

On the back is where you can put your coins inside the slot and turn it to add more coins into it. This was great for school kids that needed to ride the train or subway to get back home. Just amazing to me and to find it in such lovely condition.
