My Birthday Month is Here!!

February has been a special month for me, not just because its my birth month, but because there's Valentine's Day and a few presidents celebrated this month for their bdays!!

LOL So, here's what I found the past few weeks...

Items I found from Japan, this adorable vintage terry cloth bath sponge in the shape of a bunny head, still mint in package! This adorable and creepy sleep eyed doll from the 1950s. I have this large one and a small one. All are listed in my Etsy shop!

Next, this adorable Baby Bunka doll that is quite large too. Already adopted by a fellow collector friend. She is able to sit upright, so legs are jointed. I love the hand painted features of her face too!

These adorable Macoto and Junichi handkerchief I got as a lot. I listed 3 out of the five that were together. I am keeping these two for now...

I don't know if I mentioned, a few years back I got this adorable puppy shaped perfume with a pink lid... Little did I know they used to come in a set of 3 fragrances, Jasmin, Gardenia, and Carnation. All made by Manon Freres perfumes, 1940s. I love the colors and the box they came in was a carnival tent shape. Sadly, the Jasmin perfume leaked I guess and made the roof warped really bad. Ugh. I was devastated, but se la vie! I love the smells, some remind me of my mother's perfume back in the 70s. Below, this adorable clock Plakie rattle mint in box I won from the bay. I will treasure it. Just too cute!!

These adorable vintage upcycled orange and pears, I made into anthropomorphic ornaments! I had them in my shop just a few days ago and they sold out in less than a week! I hope to make more soon! Glad that there was a good reception for them. The orange was based off of the operatic orange that I used to watch as a kid on Sesame Street! A great memory too!

These two lovely records booklets with sleeves that I got from Japan. Below is one called, "Gift for Girls". This booklet has lovely artwork by Rune Naito and includes four records. Made of really thin plastic and can sit inside a page of the booklet. Each record has one or two songs on it to play. Mostly classical songs. Very calming and beautiful to listen too. The second record is called, "Swan Princess" and the other side is a boys anime theme song called, "Fight Pyuta". Not sure. But still cute!

I also got some adorable anime girl items, like this coin purse above and Macoto T. mini notebook. Just love Shoujo anime gals so very much!! Brings all the nostalgic feels I had as a kid.

Lastly, these adorable vinyl stickers I had made of my "Happy Bear" and "Peter" rabbit. Both are available in my shop too!  You can stick them on your car!! That's all for now, happy thrifting!

Thank you for stopping by! ~ ggsdolls

New Year More New Old Finds...

Hey guys! Some amazing finds arrived this month...

Lots of plushies too! I found this adorable Cuddle Plush Girl doll by Rushton and she's already in my Etsy shop!! She was all original, only thing I added was the pink satin bow on her neck. The bow on her hat is all original too! Love her chubby hands!! She's looking for a new Mommy!

I also found this adorable giraffe by Lovable Toys. As soon as I listed him in my shop. He sold fast!! Has similar fur print like that of Daisy May cow by Rushton. Definitely a unique cutie. I restored this lovely Knickerbocker Pinocchio for myself. I have seen him before and just love his face and style. He is like Pinocchio as a human boy! It was fun to try to bring him back to life!

I also restored this adorable My Toy Lion plush. He was filthy and needed a major washing, actually several washes to be exact. I removed his stuffing and gave him cotton batting. Now he is good as new and ready to be loved again! Below, I snagged this adorable Rushton blue pup from Kaylasunshine's live sale! Cleaned him up and now he is ready to be loved as well. So far, I have found a total of 3 laughing pups in my lifetime! Haha!

This rare sleep eyed cute is also by Rushton but and earlier release perhaps around the early 50s. Sadly, he has the dreaded "Plastic Degradation" on his face, but I think he is still cute. I also did a video on Tiktok talking about the issue once again. I don't believe the disease carries over to other plushies unless you place him into a container and close it with other normal rubber face plushies.

@ggsdolls_vtg My lastest Rushton find w plastic degradation πŸ₯Ή But i still love himπŸ˜πŸ©΅πŸ©·πŸŽ€ #ggsdolls_vtg #ggsdolls #plasticdisease #plasticdegradation #rushton #rubberface #plush #vintage #kitsch ♬ Mariposa - Sam Miller

Some goodies from Japan as well. I love these anime ladies above. I believe they are game pieces to a dating game from the 1950s or 60s. They remind me of the Lotte Gum paper dolls. I also found another Shoujo manga encyclopedia and this one is from 1975. I have it listed in my shop already too!

This cutie had a buy it now option and I snagged her. I've seen her before, but just can't place where. I believe on instagram, and from another fellow collector's page. She is the sweetest! I have always wanted a Kubrick Blythe doll pink haired figure. They are often very hard to find and can be quite expensive. So I found this one on an online shop and it was cheap!! Yay me. She is definitely a keeper! Haha!

This lovely Chalkware bear wall plaque and mod lady coin bank below are already listed in my shop. Just love finding things that may be something others are searching for!! Both in lovely condition too!

This adorable doll looks like a larger version of Takara's Chichan friends or Chika chan dolls. Her name is Ichigo chan and comes in her original box. I've already listed her as well in my shop. Below, my lovely huge posedoll was taken out of storage and I found out that I could redress her in other dolly fashions!! Yay! So here she is in a lovely Premier Doll 1950s pink dress. Just right for the Valentine Holiday season!!

I also found another Nottingham lace dresser box set, this time in white that I will use on my mid century dresser unit. I just love the style and nostalgic vibes it gives...

Thanks for stopping by and reading my little blog. Happy treasure hunting guys!! ~ ggsdolls

Goodbye 2023!!

This year has had its ups and downs, but I must say, that it has been a great one either way! Here are some of the cute vintage kitschy things I've found along the way...

This adorable red bear, was in a really nice box and great condition. They are often very expensive. So I was able to snag this one for a decent price. Another Mitsukoshi ballerina doll in yellow. I love their faces most. Something about her face that screams 40's style to me. Both of them will stay with me for a bit.
This adorable Bonnie Bunny doll, made in China is a BJD! They came in blind boxes. This one is from a pajama series. Sara liked her and has her now. Haha! Below, I often see these bunny pose dolls, but they sell really fast! So to find 2 was awesome and they are in excellent condition too! Listed in my shop already!

Next, I found this amazing Camel Japan child head bust up for auction, and won her/him. She's hollow and just needed a touch up. But I love her sweet face. She was great to show off this adorable vintage cap and apron. So cute! I also found some really great anime girl cases with play jewelry and accessories. Some I listed in my shop, some items, I kept.

Like this fawn case, kind of funky the way it is depicted. Haha! The necklace, compact, and earrings are mine. Love faux jewelry from this era. They always remind me of my childhood! Adorable Licca Chan wallet, coin purse for my collection too. It was a good month for finding many things I once only dreamt of getting!! I feel the blessings for sure!

This lovely pink case with accessories is also in my shop! Just look at that cute crab pendant!! Too cute! The psychedelic purse case with vinyl dolly is also in my shop! Next, this sweet Posedoll puppet on a stick. I believe she is meant to be 'Little Red Riding Hood'! She was an interesting find for sure!!

I saw an auction of these lovely animal dollies, which are really Takara Tokotoko Chan. She is basically the Japan version of Finger Ding dolls. Tokotoko Chan really has a human head, but apparently, these cuties had theirs lost, is my guess. I've had many friends say that the animal dolls are better and I agree! Haha! I'm just missing the bear head now. Below, I got this lovely Lady Maria doll for my shop. She is in lovely condition just missing her originals shoes. She's already listed in my shop. Last another mini Twiggy head. This one is a bit larger then my other mini Twiggies. I will have to do a side by side.

Above and below, I was able to acquire this lovely Large Molly Cottontail bunny. This version has the Smiley Eyes face mold. She is all original and comes with this adorable pink bonnet with a little bee on it. She is already adopted and waiting to go to her new owner. I just wanted to showcase Peter with her so you can see the size difference. Below, is the 1970's Rushton version of Peter. Made in Taiwan. This version is just as cute, but smaller as you can see for the side by side differences. Even his fur is a different grade.

For Christmas, I got myself this amazing Monocle Bunny Rabbit also by Rushton. A fellow friend and collector Savannah, was selling. He is one of my ISOs. So to have him now is the icing on the cake for sure!! Below, these nude angel ornaments caught my eye! Made in Japan. These are quite different from the Herman Pecker ones we often see. They have wire wings in different colors. I have the extra one listed in my shop.

This Oike Co. Sunchan doll purse, I found from a seller in Canada. She is in lovely condition and available in my shop! Very mod in style and reminds me of the 60's. I was also able to snag this adorable Rushton Pink Reindeer. Often very hard to find. She arrived just before Christmas! I had her listed a bit after and she sold right away!

Here she is by my bedroom Christmas tree. Love her coloring and she is all original too! Below, our Christmas tree and decor this year, 2023. It was fun to decorate for sure. Now, to take everything down...

It has been a trying year, but we have our health and that is what's important. We still have not started construction on our ceiling at our Tongan house. But, we are just taking it one day at a time. That's all we can hope for. So far, it has been lovely living here in the village. It can be very noisy, but that is what I remember life to be like living around neighbors when I was a kid. Makes me cherish the time I was living down at Tongan Way just a bit more. Haha!

May you all have a blessed 2024!! Happy New Year to you and your family!
