Upcycling Fun!!

Okay, so I recently received some vintage cuties, that otherwise would probably be thrown away... Instead, I decided to work on them and see if I can fix them...

Well, technically maybe no one would throw these beanie doll bodies away, but I wanted to take the cute bear faces I got last year and make some mini plushie bears for your dolls or for you!! Their eyes were touched up, and I made one a sleepy bear. I just added their satin bows too. Each bear can twist its head. Because the original dolls didn't have a neck base, that allows a twist, but the bear heads do. So, I kept that option when I put the bear heads on. And one had beans or plastic pellets inside, because it was made by another company, as compared to the other three. I will list the green, and two pinks. I plan on keeping the blue.

These vintage cutie cats, were briefly shown in an earlier post. After taking them out of their original baggies, sadly their squeak sounders disintegrated and it was filthy inside the baggies. So, I freed them and cleaned them up. I tried to see if I could remove the old sounder and put in a new one. Sadly, no dice. I had to replace the pink kitty's bottom with faux leather. I added a ribbon to each and replaced their original stickers with duck tape from the Daiso. They look like they are sitting atop a striped hat box. They are still displayable and adorable. I will keep the blue kitty for now. I hope to have the two kitties and the three bears listed in my Etsy shop.

I'm also working on this cutie. More on her later... Be sure to look out for the little bears and cats in my shop later today or tomorrow. Since I am having some internet issues.

New Mini Plush...

I recently saw another collector's post about her cute mini plush via instagram. I fell in love with them and made the move to contact Amanatarium on instagram or Anna, who created them. I was able to purchase a white bear she had available and it arrived safely to me a month later from the UK. Upon opening the letter packet, the box inside was crush. I was so worried... But, when I took the little bear out, she was safely wrapped in bubble wrap, and she was fine. Whew! Anna, does an amazing job with her facial art. I love the little star on the bear's forehead. She reminds me of a Rushton plushie and Sailormoon combined. Eeek!! Even the way she had sewn the bear, I love its little paws. Definitely a great addition to my mini plushie with clay faces collection. I will have to update my photo of them soon, too! So, you can check Anna's Etsy shop or find her on Instagram for her unique and adorable creations and jewelry.

Next, I found this lovely vintage Takara Chichan with her carriage!! I almost never find Chichan outside of Japan, and a Princess version with her carriage. Yay! She arrived safely from California and she is in amazing condition too. She is missing I believe her tin stand, crown, and staff? Not sure. She came wearing her magnetic shoes, and white gown. The carriage is an acrylic carriage, with white plastic frame, top and gold trimmed wheels and decor. Inside is a pink pillow with white tassel trim, and even her horses are acrylic! Too bad she didn't have acrylic shoes! LOL I did make her a crown! I used rik rak in gold and a pearl pin to hold it in place.

Last, I received this vtg Barbie baby bassinet and pillow. I have plans for this one, more later. So far, we just started our lock down on Guam, on Sunday. Sara also started her online classes and it is definitely a new learning curve. Mostly, her and I getting used to figuring out how to do an online class meeting. Not bad once she got it, and I do like the way she has assignments emailed to her directly from the teachers. She has 4 periods per day, and so far, today, was our first time learning how to google meet. I'm glad we did or neither of us would've known how. Gosh, a new norm for sure...

I hope you all are staying safe and well. Take care and be kind...

Internet Finds and More...

This week, I worked on another rubber face cutie and here is how he turned out...

I decided to try yellow this time with the last bunny rubber face I had in my stash. And instead of using satin fabric for part of the ears, I used blue fur. I still used the chenille wires inside the ears and this time, I had sewn them into the seam between the ears and head. Which worked out really well. I added a rattle instead of the squeak sounders. He looks adorable, and I hope to add him to my shop later this weekend!

I also got a lot of happy mail on Friday!! Here's what came in, a retro TV shaker set, mini mermaid doll, a hug doll from Japan, a Lot of Lotte Licca doll accessories, and last a Lot of Kitty squeak toys. First, the hug doll. This one is quite unique and still mint in package. I fell in love with her eyes, they look a lot like the Pose doll eyes. I couldn't resist her and won her via Yahoo Japan. She has her original tag too. It is also from the Showa period, so she might be as old as my Bunka doll?

Next, this lovely Lot of Lotte Licca doll accessories and toy sets. I sorted through the Lotte items and will add these to my Etsy shop this weekend! Many cute accessories, including a lovely pet set. I will keep the shampoo bottles, pot with flowers, and tiny Glico box toy. I've always wanted a small version of that!! Yay! The Lotte items each come complete with Licca dolly stickers. There is a makeup case, a purse, a mirror compact, and a hanger with bag. So these will be added in my shop later...

The retro television set pair of shakers, are from 1988, as it says on the box. I've seen the original versions of these shakers sets, but I have always wanted this blue color. They make great miniatures in dollhouses too! So, I hope to use it with Tadie Muz or other similar sized dolls. Especially, in my scenic photos. They come with removable salt and pepper shakers at the top, and when you turn the knob, the shaker lift up by a plastic bar inside. Interesting! The cute vintage mermaid doll made in Hong Kong, I found after a commission for a friend. I might repaint her and then sell her... Not sure. Last, these toy squeak kitties in blue, pink, and yellow. Sadly, their squeakers are all disintegrated. I might try to fix them or redo their bottoms. They were mint in package, but I had to take them out because they were covered in the disintegrated particles, yuck.

They each come with a chain collar. The lettering at the bottom is also coming off and yellowed. I will have to see what I can do with them... More on them later.

I hope you all stay safe and well. Guam is going into lock down because of the spike in positive COVID numbers. Prayers to all...
