Restoration Abound!!

 The past few weeks, I have been working mostly on restorations that were commissioned. And it has been a labor of love, honestly! I feel so honored, that these fellow collectors, want little old me, to bring life back into their beloved plushies, and for that, I thank you so very much for choosing me to do them!!

Now, onto the restorations...

First, this well loved and much soiled Rushton Happy Bear! Believe it or not, he was pink and white before, and as my customer said, you could see it from his tail. His face was oily and grubby, there was practically nothing left of his fur. So, I knew my work was cut out for me for sure!! I began with a good wash. I removed his stuffing as you can see on the before shot, washed him and laid him out to dry. After a few days, I had to wait for the fur in the post to replace him with came in. When it did, I began work on him. After, replacing his fur with bubble gum pink and white. I began working on his face.

I used the Mr. Clean eraser and carefully cleaned his face. I tried to remove as much of the caked on dirt as I could. But his face was still tan, at least not grubby as before. I touched up his face paint, trimmed his fur and added a blue satin bow. He turned out amazing and now has many more years of enjoyment to come! I have already sent him home to his Mommy! He was definitely a challenge, but I am so happy with how he turned out!! Very much worth the effort. Thank you dear Britecoolvintage for thinking of me to restore him for you!!

A pic of him beside my original Happy Bear!! He is nice an fluffy again! Yippee!! My next restoration project was this lovely My Toy Co. side laying Bunny Thumper. The owner wanted me to use another vintage bunny's ears as replacement. First, I washed both bunnies, took out stuffing and added more. I did the transplant of the ears, which by the way still had great wiring inside, Yay! Last, touched up her face paint and added a blue satin bow. Now, she is gorgeous! I love how she turned out!! She is ready to go to her Mommy in today's mail!! Yippee! I love My Toy bunnies, they are just as adorable as Rushton buns are! So far, I've seen pink, blue and now this peach version! Sara says, the contrast of the ears color makes her more cute and unique! I agree with her!

Next, I was able to snag this cutie, and decided to see if I could fix him as well! This lovely Rushton boy bunny is similar to my other costumed bunny in a pink dress, as shown in the ad later in this post. He got the full day spa treatment, and I also created his little hat and appliques myself, based on the Rushton ad. I think he turned out lovely as well. I may replace the felt on his feet, but I need to order the same or similar color. I will do that later. Now, to decide if I should sell or not?! LOL

It has been a labor of love to restore these babies!! Now, let's see what December has to offer!! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving Stateside. Now on to Christmas!!

Adorable Finds!

Here's what came in... I was able to snag this lovely Jennyeveryday yellow bunny wall plaque! Just too cute and will go with my blue one I already have. Next, I won this lovely Toei Animation Little Mermaid book! I have been wanting the book for some time now. I was very surprised that I even won!! Usually I'm outbidded. Now, I have the art print photos and this book in my collection. Yay!

This lovely vintage set of unopened and mint beaded wallets are already listed in my shop! Just too cute and did I say mint!! Yup, mint! I had a few commissions the past few days and worked on each of them. The vtg Gund Thumper red bunny plush, had disintegrated foam stuffing inside. It was like sand as I removed it. Luckily, I had a lot of stuffing in my arsenal to replace it with. He just needed a touch up on his facepaint and some simple fixes on his collar and he was done. This version is one of my favorites of the Thumper series of plush characters.

 

Then, I found this lovely vtg My Toy kitty from a vtg shop and was able to adopt her. She just needed some minor fixes, touch up of face paint and a good wash and she is now adorable again! I love these sad faces too much! LOL Adorable coloring too! Below, a fellow collector's plush Rushton Panda. James of seafoodpasta on IG was at a loss, because this cutie needed fur fixing. He had patches of fur missing. Poor baby! His issues kicked my butt too! I had to fix his felt paws and feet, which were quite easy to do. But, it was the missing fur... I had to find some. Luckily, I was able to get some from a source via California. As soon as it arrived, I was able to begin the tedious job of figuring out how to do this... In the end, I was able too. Whew! I spent at least 4 to 5 hours on his fur alone.

And I think he turned out nicely. Whew! Just touched up his rosey cheeks and he is now on his way back home to James! It was definitely a challenge and I am in no way always an expert at this whole restoration thang, but it is definitely bitter sweet when it does work out in the end.

Commissions are Abound!

 It has been a busy beginning of March, and a good thing. I was asked by a friend to get a vintage Rushton Kitty plush from USA for her in Australia. The kitty arrived to me, but sadly, she was filthy. Luckily, since she had to get to me first, she asked if I could give her a spa treatment! Of course, I was happy to oblige! So, my work began... She is a vintage Rushton Valentine's Kitty with red satin bows, etc. But, her fur could use a good wash, and her face was dark and dingy along with a cut or scratch on her cheek.

What she looked like before her wash. I was so glad her red felt hearts didn't bleed or disintegrate. Whew! I had removed her ribbons before her wash. She came out white with some areas that were still brown from years of dust sitting on her fur. But, it had turned a gold tint. LOL Mostly on her back side. I began removing the dirt and caked on dust on her rubber face. At first, I was worried it might be that her rubber face had begun degrading from age, but it was just dirt. Thank goodness! Next, I had to figure out what I could use to glue and help set her cracked vinyl cheek. I used some plastic glue and that worked out nicely. I added some blush and touched up her eyes and TaDa!! She was done.

Here she is beside my kitty! They are like sisters! I added the white n red dotted bow for my friend to keep! Now, she is ready to shine in her collection! I was also asked to help acquire this lovely vtg Rushton Mouse from Japan. He arrived quickly and I mailed him out to a fellow collector in Mexico! I'm very excited to see him get this one! And I also found a few goodies online as well, like this lovely flip book of a ballerina dancing, and a bear brooch. I plan on repainting the eyes. So more on that one later...

I also won this lovely green dressed Pearl doll from Japan. She is lovely and I've seen this doll before. But to finally win one. Yay! I've listed the red dotted dress one. I am trying to tell myself I only need the one! Haha! I also enjoy supporting other fellow creators. like these amazing KewtKitsch Rushton Kitty and Bunny!! I've have been wanting her creations for some time, I just needed to find the cash!! Haha! Now, I do. I will have them displayed on my wall soon!!

A new Kabaya Jewel Box for 2021!! I love the colors and new designs for toy jewelry. I'll share what I got inside next time... I also was able to get this adorable needle felt Rushton style Puppy made by Sui on IG!! She is another fellow collector making amazing creations similar to Rushtons. I love her miniature creations! I bought a bunny, but she is still stuck in transit. I found it odd that this pup made it faster then she did?!! I also found this lovely unique furry bear coin bank! I've seen something similar, but it was so dirty, I guess, I didn't know whether it was original or not. So, now, I know it is. I cleaned her up and she is already adopted!! I love her slightly slanted eyes!! Very, "I dream of Jeannie" to me!!

I also, upcycled these lovely doll perfume bottles in pastels, and ruffles. I've added them to my Etsy shop already! Next, I found this lovely vtg musical Christmas carousel craft kit. But, of course I wanted something different on the carousel. I decided to pick up some flocked fabric in yellow, and bought some pastel sequins... In the end, it became a lovely "I Heart Kitsch" carousel instead!! Definitely fun to put together! It plays, "My Favorite Things." How very fitting!

Last, I found these tin plates, that could fit inside my vtg GE Miss Structo cabinet!! They look lovely in it too! Now, my display it complete...
