American Girl Barbie!

I recently found a lovely 1958 Mattel Japan American Girl Barbie with blonde hair. I don't generally collect Barbies, well at least not since the early 2000s when I first collected Francie. But, I was searching to find an American Girl, and too my surprise, there was one, at a reasonable price. I bought her and when she arrived. She just needed some cleaning up!

When she arrived, the seller had included a Peewee doll, and a Knickerbocker Kewpie Bunny plush in the box. I was very surprised! I immediately took the pajamas Barbie had on and washed her hair and cleaned up her face. She had no green ear, just a little lipstick rub. I was very happy. I thought about keeping her, but, I have decided not to collect dolls if I can help it. I told myself, if I did find dolls, I would get them to resell. Haha! She originally came with an original Barbie fashion called, "Slumber Party". I was able to find an original American Girl swimsuit via Ebay. She turned out lovely after her shower. I then, relisted her via my Etsy shop and she sold about a week later.

It was nice to see her adopted. I then, took the Knickerbocker Bunny and washed him next...   I restuffed him. Sewn the areas that had holes, and added a bow along with a working wind up music box inside his zipper compartment. It plays, "Easter Parade". A fitting song for him. He turned out quite lovely and is listed in my Etsy shop. I also received this lovely artist wall decor of Rushton's Omar Octopus made by KewtKitsch on IG. I love her packaging!! She made me laugh so much, as I opened up the box!

KQ made him to look just like the original Omar. I love the style of lace and ribbon combo! Quite unique and he will be a great addition to my wall decorations. I was able to find some dolly fashions made for Kikipop, that could fit my little Japan Bisque doll, Betty! I just need to find the jumper I have. I know it is some where in my storage containers... LOL

I also received from Japan, via DHL, these lovely Nesting Bento boxes by Chocoholic. I got three sets. One with a poodle, one with cute animals and the last, with adorable girls. I will list two and keep the animal set for myself. So check my Etsy shop soon! These will be great for lunch boxes or just to use as storage for your cute things!!

I also received this lovely blue My Toy plush bunny. She just needed a bit of cleaning up. She looks so cute with the red one as well. I just sold the red bunny this past week. The blue one is listed in my shop! I forgot to mention also in my box from DHL, are these ceramic teal puppy figurines. I have been wanting a set since seeing them a few years back. To my surprise, there was a set up for grabs recently. So, I was very happy!! They are quite unique and adorable too! Just look at those chubby puffy cheeks!!

Sara and I had decided we'd spend last night at our family friend's condo. She is off island. So we've been checking in at her place to make sure her mail is picked up and other things. Our initial plan was to go swimming in the pool. But sadly, we had to make a change of plans. So, instead we just relaxed and lounged around. It was very meditative. I took some friends with me, and this morning we left early for the Post Office, and I picked up new ones. It was a busy Saturday!!

We left the condo by 11:30am and headed home. I hope you are all staying safe and enjoying your weekend!

Latest Finds...

Whoa January went fast... Here's what I've acquired the last few weeks!

I got myself this awesome Wall Plaque by CarlosofHollywood on Etsy!! Its all wood and is based on the Knickerbocker pouty bear plush. Just love this! Carlos makes other amazing pieces like pins, pillows, even an adorable bear rug. Which by the way I am so tempted to get! LOL His work is unique and I love his playful art of our vintage kitsch collectibles. Just find him here on Etsy! I also received several boxes from Japan. These vintage kitsch figurines have already been added to my Etsy shop! I've sold this set before. Lovely big eyed deer couple too great for your Valentine's display!

This cute bathing beauty is just adorable in her blue hair. She will live with me for a bit. Of course, I am still trying to find some little plates I could put into my GE cabinets. But sadly, this set of Barbie plastic plates don't fit. Ugh. So, I listed them in my shop. I also found through commissioned orders, some past miniatures Charmy chan toys for other collectors, and for a friend in Netherlands, these cute dolls below.

Ken Elephant, released their Nostalgia miniature toy sets, and I got them fast. Sadly, in one box of twelve, there is only one red roly poly and one yellow roly poly dolls. Ugh. Meaning you get all the others at least twice, but not the dolls. Darn. This set costs way too much for just the 2 dolls. Not happy with this purchase. But, the pieces are adorable. Most only want the Rolys. The baby albums are so cute, and they do open up. I can print out and put in tiny polaroids in it too!

My awesome "Rollin' with The Homies" sweatshirt by fuglybarbie!! I love it so much and can't wait to use it a lot! Matches my little Happy Bear!! I was also able to acquire this lovely squirrel plush with pastel colors by Allied Toys Canada. Similar to Rushton's Stinky Skunk. This squirrel plushie is a nice addition to my pastel collection. Yes, I even caved and bought a vintage Valentine's Chocolate Box in pink. Mostly, to be used as a prop. The price wasn't bad either!

Last, I received this lovely Rushton owl to sell, from a friend in Japan. He's been washed, and his wings replaced. I used felt in brown on the areas which was supposed to be painted on brown accents to his feathers. I just didn't like the way it looked, so I opted to cut felt and glue it on instead. He is such a cutie, and I'm having a hard time letting him go now... Haha Oh well...

Hope you all are safe and well!

Before You Spend...

Earn." - W.W. Quote for today.

Believe it or not, I don't ask Sam for money to pay for anything I collect or buy for my shop. What I make, is what I am able to spend. So, this quote is fitting.

Here is what I received last week Friday!

I received several boxes mainly from Japan, above all the loot that came in and a few other items. A large vintage doll/toy puzzle set of 6, a Ado M. tote bag, Sweater Couple of African boy/girl figurines, Happy N Roro Letter Set, mini memo book, retro handmade Japanese artist bear, a Dalmation pup couple, and a huge Rune cat coin bank. All except for the mini memo, puzzle, and retro bear have either sold or is still listed in my Etsy shop, now.
These vintage sweater African boy and girl figurine set, are quite unique. We often see them as animals like a cat or pup, but to see them like this and the girl with hair! quite unique indeed! They are listed. The Happy and Roro letter set comes with a lot of accessories, like origami sheets, pencil sharpener, colored pencils, etc. Already sold too! Next, these lovely Dalmation pups, are actually my second set found. In great condition, with exception of a little nick on her front. Otherwise, gorgeous.

If you recall, I've found a smaller version of the puzzle above, and below. But, this set has six large puzzles in the bag. I have yet to open it and list them. So many cute vintage toys and dolls in each puzzle too! Just too cute. I may want to keep this? Haha! I also found this huge Rune cat coin bank!!! I was surprise too, that it was still available. I listed it the next day in my Etsy shop, and it sold really fast!!

This mini memo book, has coloring sheets and other little teen tidbits, and information? Perhaps, not sure until I translate it. I will have to do a translate photo later. This one is mainly for my collection. This adorable retro mini bear, I found via a Japan site and the Japanese artist, "Kotori". She has made a few others, that sell quickly. So, I was glad to be able to get one of her creations. I love the baggie the bear came in... it has some vintage ribbon too, if you noticed!

I hope to bring more in if I am able to get them. This sweet Redhead little girl is made by Forsum. She has already been added to my shop. In lovely condition too. I also worked on a few creations. I was finally inspired to work on the bunny head from the Lot of rubber faces from Mexico. I decided it would be cute as a Roly Poly Rattle. I even used the retro Japanese fabric I had in my shop. What do you think? It is made of yellow felt and the fabric. I also used the polkadot ruffles in white and pink, a pink pompom, and then, added a sheer bow. I think he will stay with me for a bit....

Finally, I was in the mood to complete the yellow Fuzbear!! After working on the roly poly bunny, I felt inspired to finish the bear. I also used the same retro fabric on this bear's, palms, feet and tummy!! He turned out beautifully!! I've added a blue satin bow, a squeak sound on his left ear, and a bird sounder in his tummy. He still has the hang tie at the top. You can hold and shake him to hear the bird sounds. I will need to do a bit more trimming of his fur, but he is ultimately done! Whew! Now, there are six others in waiting... Haha!
I almost forgot, the red tote below!! So adorable, I believe the artwork is by Ado Mizumori. A lovely tote bag to carry your mini toys or doll with you on the go. I have this lovely tote listed in my Etsy shop. The lining inside is red with floral designs. Quite unique too!

Season's Greetings, from Holly and her bike!!

Wishing you all a safe and healthy week!!

Thank you for looking! ~ ggsdolls
