"Life Does Not Have to Be Perfect..."

... "To Be Wonderful." ~ Annette Funicello

This month is just about done, here are recent finds...

At my local Ross, lots of Spring items are up for grabs and while I was searching for a blouse, I found this!! A blue or yellow bicycle plant stands!! At first, I thought to myself this would be so awesome as a display stand... "But, my room is too small for it", was the excuse I gave myself. A few hours later, I couldn't stop thinking about it and texted my daughter to get it for me. Haha!
I chose the blue one, and sure enough. When I put it into my bedroom, it was a perfect display stand for my vintage pieces!! I was going to have my large Rushton Bunny guy sit on the chair, but I will need to figure out a way to keep him on it. Still Queenie looks happy and taking her friends for a ride! Who's ready for Spring?! Haha!

Next, I also grabbed a bag of these Jelly Nougat candies while in the line for the check out. These are so yummy too!! I also had to take a photo with my little friend! The candies taste really good and are light. Yummy jellybeans surround by white nougat! Mmm...

Above, this adorable Popcorn Mascot Bear gacha, comes with the carry case popcorn bag too! And it fits my little PCC as well!! Too cute and great for travel! Last, this lot of Sebon Star hair clips. I've seen them on IG and found the ones I really wanted. They are nice and big and are perfect for display and great as props too!

I hope your March was decent. So many things going on in the US and we can only hope for the best. Well, life goes on and so does thrifting, even though it may be less often. It's nice to find some things to make you smile even for a little bit. Until next time!

"The Smells of Christmas..."

"... Are the Smells of Childhood." ~ Richard Paul Evans.

Oh my goodness just 9 days until Christmas. I hope you are preparing for the holiday season and the reason for rejoicing this year! Here are some cute things that came into my hands...

These lovely miniature Gatchas by Takara Tomy Blow up Mascots. These are versions of the vintage ones sold in Japan and perhaps we have a different variety sold Stateside. I don't really collect them, but miniatures, I will. I picked up two sets and sold one. They are just too cute and the deer is my favorite! Below, I found this lovely vintage 1950s Donkey Party Game or "Pin the Tail on the Donkey". I fell in love with the artwork of the Donkey if you look closely, he looks a lot like one of those Meyercord decal!!

Below, a lovely plastic festival Mask of a deer named, "Hummingmint" by Sanrio. I just had to add it to my collection. She is very sweet. Next, I was commissioned to find some dolls for a fellow collector and I found many! Haha! Just glad I was able to help her acquire them. They are dolls my Madamemoiselle Yako. Rag dolls you can redress like regular fashion dolls. I heard that she will no longer make them sadly. So glad she got these!!

Then, Sara and I went to our local Donki and Daiso just to look around and I found some great items. Just look at all these plushies. I even found the same sleeping bear I saw back in October when my sister and I went to Daiso at Takeshita Dori!! This post here. Now, they are here on Guam, yay! But just like last time I didn't buy it. Just looked around and it was nice to see it on island. I did get some Christmas craft decorations, and made this lovely Alice and Christmas tree door hanger.

The door hanger was just the Christmas tree, and I found some bits and bobs to decorate it with along with Alice in Wonderland stickers. I trimmed the sticker and it looks like She was always on there! Haha! It turned out lovely too! Now hanging in my room... If you notice my MCM shelf from Germany is finally up on my wall again, Yay! Thanks to Taby! We went to Ross and saw some lovely Sanrio Hello Kitty and My Melody mugs too!

Last for now, are these adorable Swimmer Brand vintage plushies that remind me of Rushtons from the 70s with their plastic googly eyes!! I listed both in my shop and the bear sold out fast!!

Well, that is all for now and I hope you are feeling the holiday spirit! Until next time!

My Birthday Month Yay!!

February is already here... Time sure flies doesn't it?! Here are some amazing things I found the past month up until today...

Finally found myself this adorable tin tray and 2 plates with cute kitty faced children. I've been wanting to get myself a complete set of these adorable tin toys by Ohio Art. But they can be quite pricey. Ugh. Still a lovely set and to at least have these, Yay! I also found another rare Unicorn planter! This time with its original box. "Unicorns Fancy***Land" by M. Kazami. This one just had a bit of paint loss on the planter itself and sold within minutes in my shop. Yay!

I also got some of these gatcha Mascot pails with mini fake candy key chains inside. I love the cute pails more so, and the candy is adorable too! I kept a few and added a few into my shop. Next, I received a lot which included this adorable Rushton pink bunny baby. I worked on restoring him and now he is ready to be adopted. He is actually the baby bun that goes with the Mama bunny. I have yet to see a pink Mama bun though. Haha! Still he's adorable with his tuft of curly hair. Probably made around the 70s with the kind of fur he has.

I also found a Rushton Fox! He is in mint condition and still has his Valentine heart with the words, "Don't Be Foxy". His original collar and ribbon. Even his hat! Just truly too cute. I hope to add him to my shop soon! Next, this adorable large posedoll jointed at the legs. I just needed to find her some socks and I made her shoes! She is a great addition to any doll collection for sure!

I also received a box from Japan, and won this lovely Masako W. handkerchief, a Noriko memo notebook and this adorable Oike Co. pink kitty still with original tag. She reminded me of a Jerry Elsner plush. Just look at that face! Haha! She's already in my shop up for adoption. Also this adorable Poppo Chan tan dolly with green hair. She is mint in package and already added to my shop as well!

Lastly, this adorable Miss Pots Dreamland Squeaky! I recently won via IG auction. I've restored her and now she is ready to be loved. I will list her in my shop soon! She had bites on her lid and edge of the lid, lots of fading through out and needed a good cleaning. In the end, she turned out lovely and still squeaks too! Around the same time, I found one via auction site in just as great condition as the one I own. But she has already since been adopted by a fellow friend and collector.

All three teapots above, one on its way to its new owner. The one on the far right is mine. and the center one will be available in my shop soon! Please note, the center one was taken prior to me restoring her. So it is a before photo. Haha!

I hope you all have a great February! Happy Hunting!

Found More Iwai Dolls!!

Back in February 2016, I acquired these lovely vintage Iwai Co. Twiggy type mod dolls from a fellow collector in Italy. My original post here. They are marked 1972, Iwai Co. Ltd. made in Japan. I have long hoped to find the first doll I saw up for auction back in 2015, that I lost on Yahoo Japan. Fast forward to 2020, and sure enough, while doing my usual searches via Ebay... I did just that!

Acquired from California, the seller had them listed as Long Legged Mod dolls, no other information. I asked her if she could share how she came to find them. She said, she gotten them from a garage sale, and when she asked the owners where they got them, they simply shrugged their shoulders. But, the seller knew they were unusual and bought them to resell, and I'm so glad she did. When I saw them, I was in shock and made an offer right away. After the initial shock, I told myself to stay focused and wait for the seller's response. After a few hours, she accepted and they arrived to me safe and sound. I was thrilled when I opened the box... Because, I was afraid it was not true, and this was all just a dream! Nose twitch insert here. LOL

The brown fashioned gal/Twiggy, is the one I have been searching, all this time for. She is in lovely condition with her original stand. She sports a yellow hat, with a red and yellow sweater top, under a brown jacket, and flaired matching bell-bottom shorts. Her green thigh high socks have green four-leaf clovers on the side of each sock, with a pair of brown Loafer shoes. She just needed a bit of touch ups to her paint. But otherwise gorgeous!

The blonde wavy haired gal/Marcia, I have only seen in black hair, and black sweater top with pink bell-bottoms. So, to get her in blonde, was a dream come true as well!! She wears a lovely sweater multi-colored sweater top, that reminds me of those YSL "Mondrian" style fashions, properly paired with white bell-bottom pants, and light brown boots. Also with her original stand, sadly I needed to fix the stand because it was cracked at the base, where the shoe is being held in place. She is still stunning and I'm just thrilled to have her in my collection too!

Here they are side by side with the other ladies in my collection...

Similar stances, just different colors and look, Marcia just has a sweater top, but the black haired gal/Cynthia has a long necklace painted onto her sweater top. Definitely creates a different look to each lady. My short haired gals/Twiggy and red hat/Amy, have the same molded on styles, just different colors again. I wonder what the Amy's sock color was? I don't think I've ever seen her other then the one here... Hmmm? Oh wait, I think I may have, they were white with brown shoes, I believe?! Haha, brain blast!

All my gals together... Cynthia, Marcia, Amy, and Twiggy!

A bunch of stylish ladies from 1972!!

Have a safe and well weekend my friends!

Fashion Pet N More...

This past week, I received in the mail some quirky and usual vintage goods. First, this "Fashion Pet" from Japan. She arrived mint in box. The graphics on the box are unique and adorable. Showcasing many different ways one can pose the doll. This mascot doll has bendable arms and legs. I believe she has a wired armature body, red boots with one having an obvious magnet underneath, and metal base. The dolls head is similar to Chiko chan or My Toy's Tiny Terry, but wearing a hat. Unfortunately, its glued on. She also has a scarf, making her groovy to the times. The box says, "Fashion Pet", and also, "Fresh Pose Doll". Quite unique if you ask me. She stands about 5 1/2 inches tall. I will be reluctantly adding her to my shop later today... Haha!

Next, I purchased this lot of Glico toys, they were having a sale in this one online shop. I've always wanted the red pram, and found a desk, along with a paddle fan with anime art on it, and a basket. I will decide if I for sure, and the other items may be added to my shop later on too. The desk has drawers you can pull out. Neato! I also won a Lot of mostly kitty themed miniature toys, etc. from Yahoo Japan. I wasn't going to bid on it at first. But, on the day the auction ended I did, and won. I didn't realize that one of the cuties in it, was something I'd be interested in til' I saw the auction photo! LOL All kinds of gumball toys, from Glico toy cats with wild moving eyes, to a more recent key chain of a kitty in school uniform, a ship, a bunny and a dog. I have already added a few of the items in my shop. I do plan on keeping the little Beige fur kitty and tin cat whistle.

I wanted to share a bit more about this cutie above, the furry beige kitty. I've found one once before in this post here back in 2018! Whoa, just realized that was some time ago, and I'm still on the search for the other animals in this series. They are tiny mascot rubber pet brooches, not exactly sure the name of them except "Mascot". But, I know these are made by Nihohira Japan. Now, that I have the two side by side, I'm glad I did win the auction. Because now, I have a blue and beige one. These are the tiniest rubber toys I've seen from the Ninohira collection. Next, this lovely pink sketch bag by Margaret and the words, "Mylene" on it. I believe it is a later sketch bag as the art on it is not by Masako W.. Not sure the artist name on this one. But looks to be about early 70s. I've added it to my shop yesterday and it sold overnight! These bags are great for holding your sketch books, art brushes, colored pencils, etc.

Next, this lovely vintage catalog of Easter and Valentines plush toys. It doesn't actually say what company it is from, but I am assuming it was a manufacturer's catalog for stores to order plushies for their upcoming Easter season lines. In it, there are many plushies I've seen sold as "Carnival" or "Fair" toys and prizes. My faves are the bunny plushies. I have the small one similar to the blue shown at the 2nd to the last photo in my pics below. Mine of course in Mint green. Still I love the details in these pages, they even tell the sizes and if they are musical or not. Just dreamy!  Great for reference too! Sadly, no prices.

Last for today, this lovely vintage rubber mermaid doll. Yes, I found another. Haha. This one, I decided to see if I could change her up a bit. I actually received her 2 weeks ago. I started off with repainting her tail using pink spray paint. That didn't work out well. So, I remove the paint as best I could and painted her with acrylic paint instead. A lot better. I wanted to change her hair color. So, I rerooted her too! Cleaned her face up and added some blush to her cheeks. Some of the pink paint can still be seen, but not too bad. LOL After the reroot, I trimmed her hair a bit, but I may trim her some more. Having long hair makes it a bit challenging for her to sit up. Now, she reminds me of Marina...

Guam is on lock down for another week. We need to bring our numbers down. Stay safe and well my friends.

Thanks for reading this post! ~ ggsdolls
