Making a Tree Skirt and More...

      I've been trying to keep busy as of late. No appointments given to me as yet. So, I decided to make a tree skirt for my little pink table tree I decorate during Christmas. I started off with the idea to use some more of my Rushton fabric from Japan and the cute Alice in Wonderland iron-ons I got from my local Goody store...

I couldn't work on it a week after coming up with the idea, because I had to wait for the pompom trim to come in. When it did, it was a bit larger in size than I had hoped, but still lovely. I didn't have a pattern to make it. So, I formed the circle, using the lid from my vintage plastic hamper! LOL Yup, I did! I figured it was just about right size for the circle. I then, cut the baby blue satin fabric and then the Rushton fabric to size. I cut a line towards the center of the circle on the fabric to make the opening of the skirt, where it ties. Then, another smaller circle at the center for the tree trunk. I used satin baby pink ribbons and sewed them into the skirt along with the baby pink pompom trim. Turned it inside out and TADA! I was almost done. It was definitely a little bit rough as you can see, but it will do, since it is only for me...

It took the next day to find out where I had placed my iron. Yup, don't iron much, if rarely at all. Teehee, I'm a wash, dry and wear kinda gal. Found it and added the Alice iron-ons. It was fun to watch everything come together! Now, I have a reversable table tree skirt! I can use one side this year and a different side the next! LOL

From Japan, I received a box with some adorable items, like this Fujiya Peko chan rug and key chain tins. I've always wanted the Peko chan vintage sign, but its very expensive to buy even in Japan. So, this mat is cheaper and more affordable for me. The key chains, I've added to my Etsy shop if any are interested. They are cute to hold little things and you can have them hang off your keys or purse!

The rubber face ladies with adorable hats or bonnets, I shared in my last post here. I made them into roly polies too! These are also with rattles in them. I have added them into my Etsy shop for sale. Next, are these amazing High Fashion Lina by Takara doll fashions made by My Balloon, a Japanese doll artist. I just happened upon her blog while searching up information on Lina dolls. Oh my goodness, she created these lovely mod style fashions for another collector of Lina. I had to ask if it was alright for the very same fashions to be created for me and the other collector said yes! Thank you dear!! Yaya, did an amazing job! I love each of them!!

I chose this lovely peach nighty number with hat, this amazing mod style dress with hat, below, and last, the Liberace style in red with lace ruffles below!!

I also received this lovely vtg plush bear made by Chiltern, England!! I have been searching for one for 2 years!! Now, I finally have one! He is blue and white fur, with pink ears, paws, and feet. Just adorable and a welcome addition to my little plushy collection! Chiltern is a company that made rubber face plushies similar to Rushton Happy Bears, but painted differently. Some say, they are Rushton knock offs? Who knows...

I also found these lovely Love, Love Usagi mint in box Rune bunny couple for a fellow collector. I was surprised no one had snatched these up. In lovely condition and to see their box was a treat for sure! I decided to take my Winkin' Rushton kitty and give him a restoration... He had the orange sponge inerts and they needed to be trashed, some turning hard and most into sand. I replace his stuffing and decided to touch up some of his nose, lips and cheek blush. He is very special and the only cat I own I believe. Haha!

Finds and Making Something Unique!!

I recently received a few vintage goodies the past week or so...

 This cutie finally arrived to me from Australia after a little over a month. Thanks to a dear sweet fellow collector who helped me to received her!! Josephine you rock my dear!! I have been wanting a pink Netta bear lamp to go with my blue bear lamp. Now, my Netta lamps are complete! I've introduced you to my first Netta lamp here in this post. They look a lot like, Edward Mobley bears too, but without the scary sleep eyes. Sorry, some sleep eyed dolls and toys do creep me out, and I can't deal. Haha! This lamp works too, but definitely needed a wipe down.

 Next, I found this lovely vintage Rosarium type lamp base via Etsy, and then found the lamp shade from Ebay. They match nicely, don't they! Lovely Rosarium type lamp is in good working order. Though the rose inside the globe is slowly falling apart. Well, the leaves are pretty much completely off the rose, and flopping around inside. Still it is quite unique and lovely too! I am still deciding whether to keep or sell... Decisions, decisions...

 A quick pic of my two yawning babies. I am having a hard time letting go of the striped bear at the moment... Haha. I found a dark blue satin ribbon and now he has a bow. The Yawnies, Winken, Blinken, and Nod... A vintage ad for the sleepy cuties you see above. No, striped Bear, but at least I know the yellow kitty's name, "Winken". I'm thinking the red bear on the left, is also this striped bear, making his name, "Blinken".  I also put up my little ballerina wall pockets! What do you think? Yes, I know they are not facing each other, but sadly, the larger one needs a more secure wall mount, and the other is on one of those stick on wall mounts.

 

Last, I found these heart shaped, pressed wood crafting wall plaques, at the local Daiso. I bought three and started to make something with em'! Here's my first attempt, a lovely vintage rubber face doggy heart plaque in satin blue, white and pink hues. It was really fun to do, and meant me finding all my appliques, ribbons, etc. that I could put on it. No real theme, besides it being a heart for Valentine's, but one of the inspirations was vintage Valentine Chocolate boxes. It was fun, now to work on the other two!

Happy December Finds!!

Oh my, this whole year has come and gone so quickly... Many amazing and wondrous things I've found, new experiences, and lots of learning along the way! Gosh, when I look back at all the amazing finds, I think this year has been quite unique compared to others. I've come a long way, and must admit, that, I find myself letting go of many of my treasures sooner rather then later. It's a good cleansing and a nice treat for those who have adopted them.

Sigh, here's my happy finds for the past weekend up until today!

 This awesome Bittersqueaks Planet toy gun in pink!! I decided to visit Bittersqueaks shop on etsy and found that these cute toy guns were available! Yessss, I thought for sure she sold out already, nope. There was pink, gold and blue. I wish I could get them all. But my ultimate fave, is pink! It arrived safely and it's so hard not to want to open and play with it. Haha. You see, as a kid, I used to play with my brothers "Army", we called it. We'd get our toy guns and go to the family ranch, and pretend we were in the army and had war with an invisible enemy. My brothers had their toy guns and I wanted to yield a gun too, but my older brother Matt, said, I had to be the nurse instead. Ugh. Not happy with that role. But, it did give me a chance to play along or be told I had to go home. Seeing this made me say, "Yes, I can be a badass Army girl still!" LOL The toy gun also reminds me of "Barbarella" the movie. I'm gonna be a badass Alien fighting girl too!" Haha.

 Kate Hart and Mab Graves are the awesome women behind this creation. I love the cute postcard Kate sent with the gun. A treasure to keep also, with Mab's lovely artwork on both the postcard and the gun's packaging. Both these ladies create some awesome things and for me, this gun is just one of my dream items from them! Thank you Kate and Mab for this awesome creation!!

 Here are the finds from Yahoo Japan and Ebay, that came in... A lot of two plush bears from Japan, a Rune Naito Clown coin bank, a ceramic blue kewpie trinket box, and a yellow Rushton bear from ebay. First, this lovely vintage ceramic clown coin bank, I found on a separate site from Yahoo Japan. In lovely condition, and still has its original rubber stopper. Measures about 9" tall. I will add this to my shop soon. Next, this lovely lot of two vintage plush bears, that are like purses, or perhaps, they hide secret things? Both are in good to great condition for their age, and have zippers at the back to hide or place things inside. I will have both of them added to my shop too.

 One, is a tan colored and has his original ribbon. They also have a chain on them. Measuring about 12" each. The orange or light brown colored bear needs a bit of cleaning. Both have such sweet yawning faces too! Their hands are sewn together so you can also have them hold something too.

 Last, from Yahoo Japan, this amazing K and K Original ceramic Kewpie blue trinket or vanity box. I was so thrilled to see I won via auction. Just like the yellow kewpie style vase I got here in this post. This is also by the same maker. He reminds me of the cat figurines I got last year, here in this post. He will be added to my collection for now...

 I also took a photo of the three kewpie face ceramics I have left. I sold the cat figurines to a friend on IG. I will miss them, but these cuties have the sweetest faces though, and they fit and don't take up too much space, whew. I also won this lovely vintage yellow Rushton Star Creation bear from ebay. He didn't need as much cleaning as the red plush bear. Also, in nicer condition. I did however have to hand pick out the hairs that were all over him, ugh. I believe they were animal fur? Not sure. He smelled nice, but there was a lot of hair on him, that I painstakingly removed. You see I'm allergic to cat hairs, and some dog hairs, I would say mostly short haired one's. Long hair, I seem to be okay with. I love animals, but sadly, for this reason I can't keep a pet in our home, they have to be outdoor pets. This bear is about 11" tall, and I don't feel any peanut type shells in his body, or pellets, like the red one. He is stuffed and only had one small flaw, a hole on his side. Even his tag is nice and not frayed.  I'll try to take a photo of this bear and the red bear together. He is my newest fave of my plushies!

  I even stopped by the Goody store and found these cute stocking stuffers, tea lighted animals, a bear, and a bunny! Just cute. When I got back home, I took out my bottle brush trees and added a few to my dresser display, along with this cute deer Taby bought for me on discount from ROSS. I also took a few pics of our Christmas tree in the living room and some of the decor by the entertainment center...
