Summer Daze in View!

 It's just a few days away to the start of Summer vacation! Sara and I did some fun things the past week an a half!!

First, Guam finally got their Don Don Donki Store opened back on April 25th! It was announced that they would have license plate numbers or letters days for the first 4 days that Donki was opened. It was crazy. I decided to wait a week later until the crowd died down and I'm so glad we did!!

Inside, the huge shopping center, was a first floor of all kinds of things made from Japan. I saw, items with "Guam" souvenirs catered towards the tourists that come to Guam. Then, plushies galore from Sanrio, Donki mascots, just to name a few. Toys, snacks, chips, cookies, and more. In the back was the fruit isles, and veggies, produce etc.. As we worked our way around the back, we found hot plate foods and street foods available to line up and pack for quick lunches.

So similar to a 7 Eleven store in Japan. There were other items you would find for your home as well. We decided to check out with the snacks and drinks we found and see what else Donki had to offer locals... Once we left the main Donki area and check out lanes, we walked out onto a food court area on the left side and right side was an elevator to the ground floor, where liquor, wines, etc. were sold. Also, part warehouse style Costco or Costuless with bulk items for sale. We worked out way towards the left side and saw, some fast food counters at the food court.

One we recognized was Auntie Anne's Pretzels, and a Japanese style conveyor sushi restaurant, which by the way had a long wait line. After the restaurant, we spotted a Make up shop, and then my dream store Daiso!! Yeeesss pleeease!! Sadly not opened yet til later this month!

As we left that side, we could see the exit of Donki and on the right side, were Gacha machines and Crane machines as well. Sara decided to try her hand at one. I was disappointed that the gacha machines were limited and somewhat costly to play. Even the crane machines were nothing too amazing. These were small ones that we've seen in Japan. No large ones with anime figures in boxes or large plushies and the like. But, it was here on Guam and that was nice all the same.

Our snack haul. Sara and I tried the fruit milk drinks and they were very flavorful and yummy!! Each one tasted just like the fruit. The waffle pastries were delish too! Sara was happy with the Pik-Nik chips! We didn't buy too much, but will definitely head back for some of the other Japanese cookie tins and maybe a plush Haha!!

I also got some vintage finds in as well... This adorable large posedoll I was able to fix, her hair was missing some flowers on one side of her ponytail and some areas on her that needed fixing. Below, this adorable child suitcase with lovely mod floral design. I could not resist getting it!!

Next, this vintage wood Goldilocks House with shapes. I've already added to my shop. Just too cute for words! I snagged the "Kitch Deluxe" book, I figured should be a good read to understand more about Kitsch.

Some more Medicom Twiggy mini figures. I've already added to my shop! I sold out last time! So these are available again. Below, I found another Ririyu miniature yellow plush bunny. I listed in my shop and it sold in less than thirty minutes. Just glad customers can enjoy something rare from Japan!

This adorable yellow oil cloth bunny with Easter basket is also available in my shop. He's just too cute and his face too. In lovely condition as well. Below, some commissioned Ayumi Uyama Yujin mini retro plushies for a customer. It was fun to locate the set for her.

It has been a busy weekend even with Mother's Day in the rear view now...

Rare Rushton Finds!!

 The past month have been some of the most amazing finds since I've been collecting Rubber Face vintage plushies. I'm somewhat shocked honestly! But, definitely feeling blessed.

In my last two posts, I shared with you the adorable Clown by Rushton, which by the way thanks to Savannah of Oldsoulsvintage, I now know his name! It's "Bobo" the clown. So cute and fitting too! The Rushton poodle, Fifi, a sleepy bunny named, "Tipsy" who is now living in Germany with the sweet Sui there. Now, these I've added to my list of Rushton finds...

This amazing "Mother Goose" Rushton came to me nice and minty, with bright lime green fur. She still has her original tag, purse and bonnet. I was definitely surprised at how pristine she was. Though, I must admit, she was not an ISO. Now, she's grown on me. Haha! I also won this sweet Scarecrow Sam via auction and he was actually owned by the seller's grandmother and decided to sell him because they were moving. So, I was very pleased to adopt him and give him a home. I actually didn't do much of any restoring on either of them, because well they didn't really need it.

With the exception of Sam, just needing a few seam fixes and his hat to be sewn in place. His bowtie is not original, but it came with him so I will keep it on him. He's perfect for Halloween as well. Now, if I could just find my vintage ceramic pumpkin Jack. Ugh memory loss... LOL Just as with Mother goose, I didn't realize I would want Scarecrow Sam...

Above, I also was able to find both of these adorable large baby rattle dolls. I didn't realize how big they were until I got them in the mail!! Just adorable and precious. I will keep the pink and the blue one has already sold in my Etsy shop. Than, I also found these Disney Kokeshi dolls via Japan. They were in a lot which included Cinderalla with four mice, Lady and the Tramp, Dumbo with two crows, Three little pigs, and even what I thought was the mice from the 'Rescuers', but instead they were 'Bongo and Lulubelle'. I listed most of them earlier this past week and most were sold with the exception of Lady.

I found these adorable pastel colored mini pumpkin Halloween buckets. Just too cute! They were also in black and white. But I opted for these instead, and great for display too! I received my large plush diaper baby made by icecreambear10 shop from Mexico. Too cute and she giggles too! Just look at how big she is compared to my Rushton diaper baby!! Haha!

Another adorable child's pink suitcase with a Scottish Terrier pup on the front. I have a black one with a pink poodle as well and thought both are just kitschy cute to me. Lots of wear, but I just had to have it. If you noticed, the lining inside is similar to Margaret Holbrook painted cases. Silver painted stars inside. Perhaps these were common in child suitcases of the 1950s? It's very worn, but I love the coloring best!

Finally, I had some postcards made of my photos Diaper Baby taking a nap, and the adorable ceramic Bunny couple. I hope to make more. Vtg Finds From The Last Week or So...

 I have seen these lovely children's suitcases from fellow collectors before. Mostly in the backgrounds to their decor of recent finds. I decided to find out what they were...

The one I've seen often was a lamb surrounded by little animals and a small pond in front of her. I believe, this is the most popular one. So, when I searched it up, I found out that these were children's suitcases. I was able to find one in a style I liked, and it arrived from the States fast!

This vtg child's suitcase, designed by Margaret Holbrook has animals, a bear, lamb, pig, bunny, and rooster on a train headed away from, "Toyville" as the sign says. This Midcentury, Dolly Suitcase, is from the 1950s. Features a sweet lithograph, and the wood case itself,  is Made by LUCE Manufacturing in the US. Made of paper covered over wood, it has a plastic handle in white, and metal lock clasp. The entire case is covered by this lithograph. Inside, the suitcase is also covered in a lithograph with white and either gold or silver stars. Well, at least mine does. The backside of the case comes in either blue or pink pattern design. Which I believe to be "Blue" for boys, and "Pink" for girls.

The styles I've seen so far, are "Train", "Lamb", "Two Bears", "Carriage", and a "Sailboat". Now, I can see why these suitcases are popular and sought after by some collectors. The art is reminiscent of nursery rhymes and books of that time, and that time frame has many of the kitsch artistry we know and love with anthropomorphic animals! Next, I received this lovely vintage Mattel Barbie & Midge button and zipper accents. I figured with a few of the dolls I do have one might need some buttons! The packaging is just so cute too! I also got a few more decals, these are copies to the Meyercord decals. By the company Decorator in Canada. They might be a later release of the vintage Meyercord decals. Which makes sense as to their brighter colors, etc.

I was surprised, I found this lovely set of vtg ceramic red dotted fawn couple figurines. This is my 3rd or 4th set, to have found too. In lovely condition too, just missing their heart card that hangs off the chain. I also found this lovely vtg Japan furry Poodle Plush basket purse. In great condition, I've already added it to my Etsy shop! Then, this lovely white jointed plush rabbit ornament. It reminds me of the Easter bunnies in baskets we all enjoy getting, well at least the face does. But this version is made in China, and has markings for a company in the States. So definitely not made in Japan, like most are. Still he is cute and I will keep him for now...

 

Last, this lovely vtg Bantam plush musical action toy Mommy bun and Baby bun. She plays "Rockabye Baby" as the baby is fussing in her mother's arms. It still works too! I will be adding it to my Etsy shop soon! It is quite unique and lovely to see its movements. She still has her tag and card noting that it is an, "Action Toy!" How cool is that!

Updates on GE Cabinet and More...

Okay, I started to work on the sliding doors for my Little Miss GE cabinet. Posted here. I basically, decided that I couldn't wait to find, and order online, a set of reeded glass sliding doors, to match the styling of the same era. So, I took an old plastic accordion folder that my hubby didn't want any more, and cut out the front flap that had holes on it. Perfect for the hand held sliding door look. It was frosted, had a pattern on the plastic, and its look was just right for what I wanted. As you can see below. Now, to place some tiny little plates inside it! LOL I am very happy with how it turned out too!

 

 

Next, I received, this lovely vintage Rushton yellow and white plush kitty!!! She arrived from Japan. I was able to get my friend to help me acquire her, and ship via DHL. She got to me so fast too, it was like two days tops!! This Rushton kitty still has her original tag, and satin bow with forget me knots. I was amazed by her beauty and her face is a lot softer, then the other cats I've found, like Smiley here. She has happy eyes, just like 'Happy Bear' also by Rushton Co. I have thought of trading her, and if I do, it would have to be a large 'Happy Bear'!! But, for now, she will live with me and the rest of my Rushton family.

I also received this lovely vintage rubber face Bunka doll from Japan. Another item I got my friend to help me acquire. So lovely and unique she is already listed in my shop! I was surprised by her condition too! She is made like my other Bunka here, with straw in her body and a sound maker. Which sadly, doesn't work any more. Her arms are celluloid, not rubber. She kind of looks more like a Kewpie doll instead.

Last, this lovely vintage 1950s Lady Baltimore suitcase in salmon. A small train case, this is one of the versions I was hoping to find. I don't collect too many suitcases, but this one, just beaconed me to buy it! Haha! Sadly, no keys, it still is lovely inside and out. I will need to see if I can cleaned it up a bit more. It will also be great for scenic shoots with other vintage goodies, and my toys too!

It has been a crazy week as shown from the Capitol, and I am left with no words...
