February Finds...

 Oh my goodness, I can't believe how fast February has gone, before you know it, it will be March!! Here are some of the finds for February thus far...

I bought this adorable Ado M. lady vase via Japan. She is actually an incense vase, I believe. she has a short type vase area on the right side of her head. She reminds me of the movie "Boxing Helena". I've never watched it myself though. I also received a lovely gift of treats from a dear friend for my birthday too! Alvina in Canada, thank you dear for the yummies!! We are enjoying them!

Below some celluloid dollies I got from KitschandKawaii shop on IG. She had a box full of them and I was able to snag two!! Yay! This adorable Humpty Dumpty ceramic ornament, I found while searching felt ornaments. I love his retro look and style. A sweet cutie to decorate my dresser with!

Next, I preordered the new Ken Elephant roly poly dolls above and Sanrio cases below. They are new colors for the dolls above. I definitely wanted a blue one and also the green one, but it is not in the photo. The Sanrio case are similar to the Rune Naito ones, but in Sanrio characters instead. How cute! I have both sets available in my shop now!!

This adorable baby duck, I won with a Lot of 8 plushies and dolls. I fixed her up first and will work on the rest this week. Now, that she is done, I'm having a hard time letting her go. Oh boy! Haha! Just too cute for words and I'm not sure the brand, perhaps My Toy Co.?

Got another adorable pink telephone above, and it doubles as a coin bank too! Purchased from the amazing shop LepetitCherie on Etsy. Always love vintage finds by Alvina!! Be sure to check out her shop for awesome ceramics too!! Below, I found this lovely vintage Rushton Diaper baby as well, and she needed major cleaning. I didn't do too much and she still has her original stuffing, diaper, and bonnet. She will stay with me for a bit...

Last, some adorable tan girls, the large one above has already been adopted and is on its way to her new owner. She is definitely too cute and so big too! The ones below, I adopted for a fellow collector. The different styles that came from Japan are just too cute not to want them!! LOL

Rushton Wall Mount!

 Late May, I was doing my usual searches and I came across a plush wall mount, that looked familiar. As I searched my scans of an old Rushton catalog, here's what I discovered...

This lovely vintage plush wall mount of a tiger, is actually a Rushton Plush Trophy mount!! In the scan of the catalog, it only showcases a black bear, a polar bear, and a tiger. But looking closely of the jawline and mouth of this tiger I found on ebay. It is exactly the same. The stamp on the backside unfortunately is unreadable. But, I am definitely convinced it is a Rushton.

You can see below, the scan, same type shape of the wood for the mound, and use of glass eyes along with rubber mouth. Because I shared it on Tiktok and IG, a few fellow collectors learned that they own a black panther, and tiger trophy as well!! LOL Glad I could be of help guys! They do show up often, one just has to keep a look out! Mine is displayed on my bedroom wall. He's definitely unique!

I've also been obsessed lately with finding vintage rattle dolls and the like... I just love their hand painted features, cuteness, and that they still exist! I found a lot below and started to fix them. The clown large rattle doll is already listed in my shop. The little small ones too and one has already sold. I finished restringing the kitty one. Which was quite a challenge, but I figured a way to do it. I touched up his face and now he's just adorable!

I also repainted this Plakie rattle and added a blue satin bow. The rattle doll below that had some nail polish on him, and he needed restringing as well. Here he is before and after. He is a lot smaller than the ones I generally find and so cute too! I will be keeping him.

Vtg Celluloid Toaster Shaker and More!

 A lovely few decent finds have arrived...

This celluloid vintage toaster shaker is quite unique. At first glance you'd think it was a toy. But it isn't. The bread slices are shakers for salt and pepper. The black top with floral design is what caught my attention as well as the simple cuteness of a toy. I believe its 1940s, and made in the USA.

I was finally able to find this lovely Premier mint in package doll watch. I have seen them often mostly in Japan auctions, but they sell for a lot. This one I found on Ebay and for dirt cheap compared to the others. I love the packaging and it will be a nice little display. The band is made of elastic, the clock face is tin with movable plastic clock arms. Just adorable for your dolly to wear!

I have seen this lovely Marie Cake Kewpie doll made by Lisa Loria, often via many collectors on IG. I've always wanted one and since Lisa mentioned it would be the last time she'd make them. I made sure to get myself one. These adorable Kewpie dolls, she creates to look like Marie Antoinette with pretend cakes underneath the glass dome atop a cake stand. How ingenious!! Mine arrived last week. It took a month for her to work on it and I'm so thrilled to have at least one of her works in my collection! Lisa, you inspire me dear!!

Last to arrive as far as vintage finds, is this 1930s Japan paper mache' jointed Patsy type doll. She stands about 8 inches tall and needed re-stringing. I love her face. She is a welcome sight and a great addition to my collection and so unique. I tried to find any information on her, and nothing has turned up. Just adorable and I can't wait to use her in some of my photos! I was also inspired to work on the vintage rubber face bunnies I got a few months ago and I made them into Roly Poly dolls with rattles in them! I also used the Japan Rushton plush fabric on them as you can see a Happy bear! They are both listed in my Etsy shop, and the blue with pink has already sold.

My plush kitty beside them for scale. The black with pink is still available in my shop! I then worked on a bit larger version of my felt rolypolies, and this Panda came to light! He just adorable and I added a 'tingaling' sounder in him. He is also listed in my shop just today! Loved the way he turned out.

Another Rare Find!!

 I recently received the icing on the cake plushie by Rushton!! This adorable vintage Rushton bear in pastel colors and holding a little blue plush bear of his very own!! I have only seen this type from a Japan shop that sold it long ago... So, of course to my excitement, finding it was truly a blessing in disguise!!

 He arrived safely from a seller in Texas. Upon inspection, he was in pristine condition for its age. A cream and pink rubber face bear with the similar face mold to the Chubby Tubby. Sadly, no tag, and I could not see his stamp under his chin. He wears pink pants with satin pink ribbon as suspenders, and adorable pastel blue buttons. His satin ribbon tie was somewhat wrinkled up, and may just need a good ironing. The little plush blue bear has felt ears, tongue, plastic eyes, and sewn on nose. His bow was also pink and kind of too thin for my taste. So, I added a nicer bow on him. The chubby bear is about 14 inches tall. He is definitely a part of my Rushton Collection now!

A view of his backside. I replaced the small safety pin, as the last one was all rusty. He is simply the cutest Chubby Tubby bear I've seen in this version. The seller was so sweet and wrote me a lovely note and shared with me the story of how this bear was found. "This particular plush I found recently at an estate sale, it was a keepsake item, it was in a cedar chest along with old baby clothes blankets, and a few other toys, but this was the only rubber face" I think that it why he was so stunning. I did have to touch up his blushing a little, and seal his face, which helped a lot. Because sadly, his rubber face was getting oily in feeling and gave off a stickiness to it. Yuck! But, with the sealant I used, that was gone. Yippee!!

The Japanese shop that had him up for sale long ago. Also, here he is side by side with my Chubby Tubby Cherub. Same face mold too. He is just adorable and I love him!! A welcome addition to my little collection for sure!

This lot of vintage dime store vinyl dolls, I also found online and if you look closely, they look just like "Chico-Chan" or "Tiny Terry". The lot included a blonde, a brunette, and a dark brunette doll. They have arms, and heads that can twist, sadly their shoes are painted on, and legs are stationary. Just too cute! I had gotten so many requests for them, that they sold through IG. I'm just glad others will enjoy them! Next, I had gotten a vintage rubber face plush cat, that had a weird combination of colors and his plush and stuffing had cardboard in him. Seriously, very odd indeed. So, I threw away his old body and remade him into this laying kitty with a rattle! He was snatched up in my Etsy shop already!!

Then, I found this lovely vintage mermaid doll mascot made in Hong Kong. She just needed a good washing and touched up her eye shadow and blush. I listed her in my shop and she was adopted as well. They are quite rare and often hard to find too. I finally became inspired after making the purple kitty above, to finish Sara's pink kitty. The first attempt, I did I was trying to create this similar stance for her plush, but had no pattern. Since I remade the body for the plush kitty here, I have her old body as a pattern now, and was able to complete Sara's kitty. She loves her and I'm just so happy that I finally had her completed. She had been sitting in my boxes for several months now. LOL

Last for today, this adorable very small celluloid blue puppy toy. I thought was a rattle but it doesn't work? Not sure, Still so cute. I will use him in some photos. They are available at KitschandKawaii on Etsy! I missed out on the other colors darn, but still this cutie is special.

Last week Friday, I had 2 biopsies. It was a very odd surgery to have done, and quite uncomfortable. The surgery was called a "Stereotactic Biopsy". Just look it up and you will see what I mean. It is something I don't think I want to experience again. So far healing is fine and it wasn't as invasive as it sounds. I hope to find out results in a week or so, as the lab that it goes to is off island and in Hawaii. Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers, they are very much appreciated.

Happy Mail for Early July...

The past week, many lovely online finds have come in and here they are...

Above, I found a lovely vintage Ideal Tinkle Chime Rubber Face Lamby, with original tag, some Target deer ornaments, a cute retro print dress, a Lot of Misusa appliques, just to name a few!!

The lot of felt appliques have already been added to my Etsy shop this past week. I will keep two. Rest are up for grabs. So cute and a lovely applique to any vintage purse, bag, blouse or jeans!! The ideal 1950s tinkle chime lamb is in great condition and still has its tags. You can rock him back or forth and he has that roly poly doll chimes sound in him. Just cute!! I didn't know Ideal made them!! She is already listed in my Etsy shop.

Adorable glass eyed vintage pink sad bear with blue nose!! I couldn't resist getting him to add to my shop. He's little and who wouldn't want to rescue him. Sad face bear with unique blue nose!! He has felt ears in teal and I added a blue satin bow to him. He is also added to my Etsy shop now.

Then, I found this lovely retro made sprinkle jar, with fake round sprinkles. I will use this for a scenic pic with my dolls. I remember these type of sprinkles as a kid. They were yummy too! It's so cute and nostalgic fun too! The pastel colored beads in the baggy, I'm going to use on a key chain! Next, I found this rare vintage 50s rubber face plush bear purse from Japan shopping site. I've always wanted one, and his condition wasn't great, but I love his coloring. Sweet face for sure! He has a zipper at the back so you can put your wallet, keys and go. Just adorable. I will be keeping him!

Also, through Etsy I found this lovely vintage Lucite Daisy dry flower brooch, made in Japan. I have been looking for this type of brooch since seeing the very same type on a Japanese manga ad below!! I knew that one day I might find one, and here it is!! Still has its original Japan sticker too!

Speaking of ads, I finally found a Chubby Tubby ad on Ebay and bought it!! I've always wanted one, just for the cute illustrations of all the cute Tubby bears with wings. I've seen these cupid tubby bears, and one day I hope I can find one! A cute piece of vintage Rushton history!! Now, I just need to frame it. Next, I was looking for some cute pins to put in my Fawn pin cushion and found these lovely celluloid Japan tulip pins on Etsy. I bought two colors, yellow and pink. They are a great addition to my fawn pin cushion too, don't you think?!

Last, these amazing Heiko Nostalgic wrapping paper gatcha pouches from Japan!! After seeing a fellow Japanese collector share her pouches on instagram, made me want to get a set too! I was able to find a seller online I could buy a set from. I remember the strawberry bag print, the fruit print, and the toys print. We had a shop that sold Japan Sanrio toys, etc. exclusively on Guam, named, "Julie's" late 70s and early 80s. The shop was situated, where the Nanbo Insurance complex is now. Then, late 80s, Julie's moved into the Agana Shopping Center, and rename itself, for the life of me, I can't recall?! I'll have to add it later into this post, when I do. LOL Anywho, Lita and I used to go there to just browse through all the Sanrio stuff and all the US dolls and toys in the 80s. When we bought something, they use to put our purchases into the toy bag wrapper, even if it was just candies. Ahhh, the memories!! You don't get that kind of personal touch any more...
